Essays: Should be decent but nothing superb or below average.

Please let me know my chances! I have bad test scores/gpa but I have great EC's and Class Rigor.

I still say exactly the same thing as I said before- it’s going to be tough. Your GPA is below average. Your SAT is in the middle 50%. Apply early, you have a shot. Do well your senior year, especially first semester.

I’m going to say there is a good chance they will deffer me rather than straight up reject or accept me. If I am deffered should I try and get a 3.5 GPA or higher my first semester of senior year? Would that be weighted or unweighted? Also if I am going to be taking AP Calculus BC and I will probably get a C in the class for semester would taking the class for Pass/Fail look bad on my senior year first semester transcript?

If you think you are going to get a C in the class I would reconsider yaking the class. Is there another math class that would be less overwhelming? You may need a strong first semester GPA.

Well I would rather take Calc BC in high school and get a C rather than taking it in college and getting a C. That’s why if I do the course for pass/fail no grade will show up.

I totally disagree with this. I know many students who are science majors that were not so great at chemistry, physics and math, who were accepted to vet school and will make GREAT vets. Just because you’re not great at math, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be a science major that requires heavy math (which I assume is Calc I and Calc II). Don’t base your future off of one class. Now, if you plan on being an engineer or a math major, then yeah, if calc II is giving you some trouble, you MAY want to rethink your major. But if you’re thinking about going in to bio science, chemistry, lab science, or medicine, don’t worry about calc II. Most of the majors I mentioned don’t even require calc I.

Now for your chances at MSU- You will probably be deferred and accepted for the Spring semester.

I’m not sure where we disagree. I said if you can’t handle calc 2, then your probably shouldn’t be in a major which requires heavy math (such as calc 2 and beyond). Specifically, I was thinking of physics.
