ok, heres the problem: I can either apply SCEA or RD (the specific school is Stanford, if that matters). I have a ~2100 SAT, 33 ACT, 3 mid 600 SAT II. I want to raise my standardized test scores, so here's the dilemma: I have 1 more chance to take the SAT and ACT before SCEA but that means I'm stuck with my bad SAT 2 scores. On the other hand, I can apply RD and raise all 3 SAT 2's and have another shot at both the SAT and ACT but I will probably get 2-3 B's this semester due to my insane schedule. So its basically bad SAT 2's vs. bad grades. Thoughts?

does stanford accept the ACT in lieu of the SAT1/SAT2 combo?

if what you mean is, does stanford require SAT 2's along with ACT? the answer is no, however they STRONGLY recommend taking 2 SAT 2's, one of which is math 2c. I got 720 on math 2c, 660 us history (way more specific questions than the AP test, which I got a 5 on), and 630 on literature.

Its risky but I can also retake the SAT 2's at the next testing sessions, november, and rush the scores in.

actually it might not even because if i apply SCEA stanford will see my 2-3 b's on my progress report, altho they will probably just "weigh" it differently.

Frankly, it doesn't matter because you're highly unlikely to get in either way unless you're an athletic recruit.

SAT IIs, if you can bring them up to 750+.

so youre saying if i can raise sat 2's to 750+ go ED, otherwise go SCEA?

"so youre saying if i can raise sat 2's to 750+ go ED, otherwise go SCEA?"

ED?

Assuming you meant RD, i say yes, raise ur sat iis to 750+ or SCEA. SCEA does not have a significant advantage over admissions anyway. and will not deny admission cuz ure senior grades have a couple of Bs. but u still have more than half ur semester. try hard to get A's, cuz the next two-three months will be your last months working hard. and they may dictate ur future life. haha sorry if i scared you, but by all means work hard and do your best. i have like the toughest courses ever and taking SAT Subject Tests and SAT so i say to myself, "Hmm, only 2 months to work, i'll make the best out of them." Good Luck.

2 to 3 Bs? Most Stanford admits have insane schedules but manage straight As. Chances of getting into Stanford with that many Bs are slim. Then the relatively low SATs, what is it that gives you a shot at Stanford? I would not go SCEA. With all the attention on EA/ED, only the most qualified will be accepted early this year.

Apply RD. If you apply SCEA you risk getting rejected.
