I've got a HUGE mix of big and smaller schools (I'm a junior -- still a little early for visits), and even though I'm not including any information, I know my capabilities/extracurriculars/essay skills, and I had a 4.4 GPA at the end of last year. 4.7 is my goal for the end of this year.

Here's my list:

Boston College
Brandeis
Columbia
Cornell
Dartmouth
Duke
GWU
Georgetown
JHU
Lehigh
Northeastern
Northwestern
SUNY Binghamton
SUNY Stony Brook
Tufts
UChicago
UMichigan
UNC Chapel Hill
UPenn
Williams

I will chance/help anyone else if they need in return for a reply :) Thanks!

Well, with all the Ivy League schools on there, in addition to the top LACs and other top 20 schools, I’d say you should shoot for a 2400. No, I’m not kidding. Okay, maybe a bit… But my point is that admission at these top schools is extremely competitive, so you need get the highest score you possibly can on the SAT. I’d narrow down my list too, if I were you. Do some research, it’ll help you narrow down your list and excite you enough about certain schools to give you the drive to do well on your SAT(:

For your schools, 2150+ for non-Ivys, 2250+ for Ivys.

2100+ would put you in the ballpark for the non-ivies…
2150+ - 2300+ for the ivies… I mean it all really comes down to EC’s… If your EC’s are good, a 2170 or so could be sufficient… but if you’re lacking then a 2300+ would give you a good shot

This is great information guys! What would be the approximated scores for the ACT? Any ideas?

If don’t live in NC, then you will need a 2200+ score for UNC, in addition to the other Ivies and top schools (williams, uchicago, etc).

So if you get a 2200+, then you are in good enough shape for all those schools. If you get a 2300+, then you are in even better shape, but not that much better. For Cornell, a 1500+ SAT , cr/m will make you a very competitive applicant.

For ACT, Shoot for a 33+. The 75th percentile for the ivies and other top schools on your list is a 34 for almost all of them.
