Fair enough. Although I think that when you see that 750+ has a greatly increased admission rate, it's pretty inferrable as to why.

I agree that it's pretty obvious that the kids with higher SATs will generally get admitted more, but they also tend to have a lot of 'admittable' qualities, as well.

What he said:

What he means:

maybe you should just retake the SATs instead of making stupid threads and posts like this.
I'm sure someone will loan you 40 dollars if that's the problem.

Maybe someone will loan you a hunk of red meat and a glass of milk if you want to be healthy, since veganism fails to supply your body with vital minerals and nutrients, thus being detrimental to your health

after you have a big 'ole steak, then you can lecture about how someone will loan me 40 bucks

why don't you just pick up raw foodism and die a horrible ebola death instead?

as Chief Resident Douchebag Nspeds would say, arguing against me is "otiose" (futile)

i took the ACT four times simply so I could leave knowing i did my best...and why not try to do your best?

Because you're being a College Board pawn, and because not everyone is made of money where they can afford to waste $200 on useless testing?

Maybe you should get a job. $40 is not much money at all to anyone who plans to have a college education. Anyone who can afford to go to college can afford to take the SAT. Retaking could even save you money. If you do better and get into a better school, you'll get more need-based aid than you would from a lesser school.

Understandable....but....$200 seems to be nothing in the scheme of things, where solely applying costs $60 + and the costs of visiting colleges (travel, etc) can be extensive. In addition...perhaps the 4 points i went up may open doors for scholarships...easily worth $200

Ex-runner i totally agree...

You would say that $200 is nothing, wouldn't you? Perhaps you've never experienced living with a family of five supported by my part-time job and my mother's part-time job. We live paycheck to paycheck, and that $200 is more money that could be used to feed my little brothers and sisters.

I have a job, and I work every possible hour. 100% of my paycheck goes towards helping out my family. I don't have an "extra $40" laying around.

Excuse me for balking at some of the sheer idiocy present on these message boards.

Being fortunate does not make me an idiot, it just makes my life a lot easier. I agree, retaking would not be a good choice for you. Supporting your family is clearly more important. I don't have to support my family, so I have no reason not to. What is right for some is not right for others.

I was referring more to ExRunner's ill-contemplated comments.

If you have to work so much to support your family, how do you find time to post online? Also, if you are supporting your family, how are you going to leave them to go to college. That is verry irresponsible of you. How are you going to pay for college? By putting more of a burden on your already "starving" family? I suggest delaying college if money is this tight for you and your family.

Perhaps you could stay home and continue working to support them and go to community college at night. Then you wouldn't even need to waste $40 on the SAT. But there is still the $35 application fee to contend with.

ExRunner, I think I'll let your post speak for itself. You, sir, are a wealthy bigot.

You didn't answer any of my questions. Similarly, nothing in my post mentions my financial situation at all. I'm going to college on a full academic scholarship.

What does being my vegan have to with the SATs and your stupid comments? I could completely go into the whole thing about how much healthier being vegan is, and how vegan children actually have higher IQs but it's really not worth it.
If moneys an issue for you than you should definitely retake because by spending some time studying and $40 dollars you could probably save your family a lot. I'm not coming from a rich family either. I also have a family of five and only my mother works. I also have a part time job. I'm retaking the SATs to get a higher score. If you don't think you need to do that then that's your choice, but that doesn't mean the rest of us are "bad people".
And it really has nothing to do with my being vegan.

Ouch (10 char)

WHY NOT RETAKE?!!!
tell you what? SAT score has more significance in admission offices than most of you guys think!!!!!
