I visited last week and I loved it!!! After 5 minutes, I knew that I really wanted to go there! I loved everything about it, the people, the food, the buildings, everything! But the only problem is I can’t go there because they did not give me enough financial aid!! They gave me $7,000 in loans and also I am planning on going to med school too. What Should I do? I really really wanna go!!!

i completely agree with you. they gave me a $12,000 grant and other loans as well. but since my older sister will be out of school after next year, most likely that grant will be small or gone after my freshman year. oh well.

oh just go there. i am. your education will be a great asset and you will easily be able to pay it back a few years after you graduate

Are you able to get further loans to cover the gap? How much debt would you be at the end of your ideal path? Would it be much in comparrison to your predicted salary?

If you dont get into med school what is your back up? try to work out a worst case senario and see if the debt would be crippiling or not.

Have you got other options for colleges that you dont completely hate?

This must be a really tough decision for you. I am just trying to ask questions that may put it all in perspective later down the track when you have to pay off loans you may need.

Well I would like to come out with as little debts as possible so I can start med school without being negative $200,000! But there is always the possibility of going in state to school, for me that would be Oregon Health and Science University, which is actually pretty good med school.

As for my back-up career... If I didn't become a pediatrician, I would want to be a teacher. And as a teacher it would be hard to pay off all the debts. But if I was a teacher, I think BC has a good enough program that maybe I wouldn't need to go to graduate school for teaching.

As for my back-up schools.... I have a couple of good options out west. Gonzaga University and Pacific Lutheran University have given me really good financial aid packages. Also Providence College gave me a good deal too.

So what to do, I don't know? My parents don't think I can go to BC, because of the financial reasons. But I just felt like I belonged there and I loved it so much!

pinkflamango,

Finances are a major consideration and if BC is not forthcoming with enough aid then at least you have other choices.

You are fortunate to have a generous aid package from Gonzaga, which is also Jesuit, as you know, and has been cited for offering an excellent undergraduate program. Additionally, it offers a wonderful junior-year-abroad in Florence, if art, art history and European history interests you. I attended many years ago and still have fond memories -- of course, Florence is pretty hard to forget!! I did not actually attend Gonzaga at Spokane, so I cannot speak to that, but, again, it is supposed to have a very good reputation. Good luck!

well pinkflamango, i received 4,000 dollars in loans....and i will be in HUGE debt when i graduate...however this is the school i really love...and i am going to attend and do my best to have the best college experience ever....i turned down 33,000 a year at richmond and an air force academy appointment. (you can call me stupid i guess) But if BC is the school you really love....i'd say go there! (don't listen to me though lol, just look what i turned down)
