does it count as a visit if i use google earth? jk

haha, i recently became addicted to google earth...you laugh, but I actually did visit some college campuses through it...hahaha

wow that is seriously cool...I get to sneak into people's backyards, and roam the crowded streets of Kyoto...

to get rid of my stress: I found out people from my school already got into Yale and Columbia, and I didn't even have school today. Next week will be major rumormill time, I can tell.

My high school environment is so different from so many of yours. In my school, kids talk about deciding between state universities...

is anyone else getting the little problem that, somehow, the whole school knows where you're applying early though you've been sort of hush-hush about it? :(

no, my school is like shaina's...yeah--UCs, CSUs, a few motivated people who reach higher, but hardly anyone gets into the ivy's even though the school claims that it is a "California distinguished school". I mean, it's a great environment but not too competitive

my school? 40 some odd people applied scea stanford. it's like a cult, i swear.

^ would you say all 40 are in prime shape or are there some people with good chances and some stragglers?

We have quite a few people doing Harvard (nowhere as close as 40 though. Maybe a dozen), but some of them are really subpar applying for the heck of it.

Our school has a few people doing Ivies (maybe four or five) but they are all super smart and have a ton of awards and EC's, so most likely they'll get in to wherever they're applying too.

i'm the only person at my school to apply to any ivy league schools... Most of my friends are either going to state u or not going at all

^^^
not all 40 are in prime shape - i don't actually know all of them. my friend knows the counselors really well, and he was talking to them about it, so they told him about 40 people applied. i'd say maybe 10, 15 are in prime shape, and the rest are most likely stragglers, although there's a slim chance even they may get in. plus, we already have 2 people who got in to stanford because of athletics.

No my school is like jojo's. Nothing is sadder than seeing your friends graduate with no life plans.

Every year at my school about one or fewer people apply to ivies. There happen to be two this year, me and someone else.

I personally haven't told anyone when I get my SCEA decision - I'm sure I won't want to talk about it if it's bad news.

^ ^ that means some people are going to have some uncompetitive class rankings (40 or less)

there are some CRAZY public schools near my town, one of which sent SIX to Harvard last year (and 16 Ivies in total, excluding who knows how many MITs and Stanfords). O_o

I'm not surprised, since you all live close to Cambridge. Is Westford a good school in your opinion? I guess I get swayed by the title academy, so i think of it as one of the top school in the nation?

I know, the 'Academy' fools a lot of people (since it's near Philips Academy geographically). No it's a public school, but ranked about 20th in Massachusetts (out of 330), so it's alright.

^ ^ ^
we don't really do rankings, though - not that i've been aware of, at least. max i know is i'm in the top 5%, since the uc's told me, but that's about it.

I actually tried visiting Stanford with google earth. In fact it's the only school I can see from the program - I can't find Yale or Harvard or Cornell at all - too many trees and a lack of red rooves (roofs?) probably.

Stanford is really cool on google earth. Notice the lake is empty. That's cause its never full. Boo Pres. Hennessy(sp)!

lol same for me, webspiderus. yay for UCIrvine if nobody else takes me! XD
