I made an F in one of my college classes in high school and i’m not eligible for financial aid because my college GPA went below a 2.0 because of that grade. I failed the class because I barely showed up and didn’t care but my question is could I ever get my financial aid back? I don’t have a valid reason to appeal but if I get my GPA over a 2.0 can I have it reinstated?
What year did you get the F? What is your high school GPA and what year are you currently in?
Why not take 1 class and get an A, or more safely 2-3 classes and just get passing grades to get your GPA above 2.0. Of course, you would have to work and pay cash for those classes. Maybe your family could help if you gave them a clear plan of action on your part, sort of like a business plan?
I got the F senior year of high school and the class went towards my high school GPA and college GPA. I just graduated and will be a college freshman at my local CC.
I’ve been thinking about going part time because I can afford paying for like one or two classes but eventually I want to transfer to one of my state’s schools and I’m worried I won’t be able to get my aid back
I think that you need to work hard, keep ahead of the work, and get good grades at your CC. After two years of doing very well at your CC the trend will be clear and this will get you in to good universities. About 18 months from now will be the time to figure out what universities look affordable.
Your should have an academic advisor at your CC who can tell you how to handle this.
take a couple of three credit summer classes at a CC. Choose some easy classes that are real college level classes
Can you just retake the course this fall or summer and do grade replacement? If allowed, that would remove the
F grade fully and replace it with the new grade. I’d consider heading to the department chair over that course at the cc and plead my case for that option. The chair can then process it through the dean and registrar, if allowed.
