I lied to some school kids about going to a university just a few days ago but honestly I'm not. I plan on attending community college.
I am freaking out and wish I could go back but I went to a prep school and they would have looked down on me so I panicked.
I'm such an idiot... What do I do?
Also, I haven't even finished signing up for community college. Is it too late?
I wish I had my parents help... :(

Would it be believable to say I switched now?
Or is that binott possible anyway?

It’s honestly not that big of a deal… Just say you decided it was in your best interest. It is almost never too late to switch, granted the semester hasn’t begun.

Contact the community college and ask for help through the process. They should have staff to help incoming students. I know it can seem overwhelming/confusing but you can work your way through it step by step!

As far as the other kids are concerned, I wouldn’t worry about it. Just do what works for YOU; try not to be overly concerned about how others may perceive it.

People tell fibs to their friends all the time, that is not a mistake. Whats important is your future, if you can excel after attending CC, more power to you and no one is going to laugh at your CC background if you are successful.

You’ll find out there are no shame in going to CC. Lots of kids told my daughter they were going to 4-year university and changed their mind the last minute and went to CC instead. For California kids, it’s much easier tranfer from CC to top UCs like one is aiming for Chemical Engineering at Berkeley .

Just laugh it off or say you changed your mind, your parents prefer it or anything, it doesn’t matter.

Why can’t you parents help you? Are they unfamiliar with the system? Why didn’t your HS counsellor help you? Any reason you are not going to a 4 year? CC may be the best thing to do, but sometimes if you just didn’t pick the right colleges to apply to you can take a gap year and reapply as a freshman so you can get better financial aid. What is the situation?

not that big of a deal…take the advice from others above to call the CC…then if you see those kids again, just say, “I was all ready to start at College X but some issues came up with my family and i need to go to College Y for awhile…i’m hoping I can get it all worked out by next year.” And then thats the end of that…
