I made a mistake.

I am a full time student at a community college. I also work full time to pay for college. My freshman year I failed all of my classes because of alcoholism and I now have been sober for 3 years and I am working very hard to make all A's. My gpa is a 4.0, my dream is to get into an reputable school such as Rice or Princeton. I am going to practice for the SAT this year, and take it until I score at least a 1900. I figured that this was the only way to prove myself after failing. Do I have any chances? What should I do?

Sorry, but 1900 isn’t high enough for those schools. I think you should set your sights a little lower, on a really good state school or a less competitive private school…

Or just score higher.

Or just score higher?

Don’t drink and drive.

You can’t transfer to Princeton. Not becuase of your scores/grades, but because they don’t accept transfer students at all. So that’s out.

Go for a good state school. Still a great education, but often a lower cost, and much easier to get in to.
