I messed up on my BOG Fee Waiver Application!?

Hey everyone I decided to apply for the BOG Fee Waiver for the 10/11 Yr and I made a mistake and now it's saying that I am not eligible..I already applied for FAFSA and received an EFC of a 4 and last year I received BOG without filling out nothing..so am i basically screwed? or once they check my FAFSA app they will override it or should I just go to the financial aid office? because they never pick up the phone..Please Help

Please help

Is this for your community college?

yeah im attending SMC

please help

Did you add SMC to your school list? For my ccs all I had to do was add their school code and I was eligible for bog :frowning: Maybe you should go to the financial aid office to have this resolved since you had fee waiver before right?

yeah i had it before but they dont start accepting bog applicants until the 10th but i was a little tempted to get a head start…

Hm I wouldn’t worry about it so much talk to the fin aid office. I got the BOG fee waiver at one CCC and then when I went to another they told me I was not eligible. But when I updated my fasfa I was given the BOGG fee waiver.

ok thanks for the help guys…i was just scared if i were to pay for all my classes instead of getting them waived…i guess i’ll just have to go to the fin. aid office because i dont think they have taken a look at my fafsa yet. because on their site, it says they will begin accepting BOG applicants on 5/10/10

I did the same thing at SMC last semester, haha. I’m guessing you did the application part wrong on the internet? I just took my parents’ tax forms and went to the admissions office and told them I made a mistake online. They pointed out what went wrong and changed it for me right away.

hey edelynly…i did the same thing you did lol. so i should take my tax papers?

also admissions office or financial aid office???

i keep calling both offices and they never pick up…but edlynly if you’re reading this…please answer my question lol…

Go in person. They never help via phone calls. I would take it just in case. They didn’t need mine (because my mistake turned out to be a small one) but you never know…

And you know the admissions complex behind the Theater Arts building? I went to the office that was nearest to the side parking lot (where you see everyone walking past after getting off the bus). I think it’s the admissions office? Haha. I don’t remember, it’s been a while, but I’m sure you could go to any and get your problem fixed.

oh ok thanks a bunch! also do you remember if filled out you’re FAFSA at that time? because I heard you don’t need to fill out the BOG Application if you filled out the FAFSA but i did it just incase…and do they make you re-do the application? or do they fix it for you? thanks again

Yeah, I filled out my FAFSA. I was in the exact same situation as you. I wanted to do the BOG early but messed up only later to find out I didn’t need to do the BOG app. So I freaked out, of course, haha. But the admissions kid helped me out a bunch (:

I think they did give me a piece of paper to redo the BOG application but it’s pretty much the online version in paper form. The kid told me what I did wrong so I wouldn’t make the same mistake on my hard copy application. No biggie.

oh i see…so even if i messed up on my application as long as i qualify through FAFSA i will still get the BOG? or will the error i made on my online app. prevent me from getting the BOG? also so when you turned in the paper application they changed your status right away?? thanks again edelynly you’re a life saver!

:)

Your mistake should not prevent you from getting the waiver. It was an honest mistake and it’d be ludicrous if they held you completely responsible. And yes, they did change my status right away, within a day or two I believe. I remember it didn’t show up on my BOG page on my online account (it still said “you are ineligible…” throughout the year) but I didn’t have to pay for my classes and such.

ohh well i heard theyre gonna start accepting BOG applicants on the 10th so we’ll see…also are you still attending SMC?

Kind of! Haha. I am done with all my requirements and have moved back home… But I’m taking two online classes to receive finaid :stuck_out_tongue: It’s your first year?

oh i see… congrats with that. yeah this is my 1st year…also have you received your grant checks? i still havent received it…they said the “census day” was on the 26th of april…
