i messed up...

Ok. So I am currently a junior in high school and I messed up. I took AP Psychology and received a D as my grade. I’m definitely retaking the course. Currently, I am in my second semester of junior year and I was planning to take it over the summer online. Is this possible? To take it online during the summer to repeat that one semester I got a D in? Idk if this is possible. Also, I only took 2 years of spanish and I really want to take Spanish 3 but all my classes are full for next year. Do you think it is possible to take it online during the summer for one semester and the other semester during the first semester of senior year? Pls reply thanks alot.

Will your HS give transcript credit (and grades) for online courses over the summer? If not, no…

Hi, I am a parent and my child is having a similar problem but she is in the eighth grade…for her 3 years in middle school she has gotten under average grades. But, she has fixed her grades and for this last part of the school year, she is on track to receive all A’s and I am sure she will do the same in high school. So, my main question here is, will her middle school grades possibly affect her future college applications to top tier colleges?

No. UNLESS she took HS core classes in MS AND a college is particular about seeing them on a transcript, the only courses/grades colleges will see are ones that were done in 9-12.

The grades won’t matter. However, there is a difference between grades and content knowledge. Lack of information and skills can catch up with students in tests, grades and academics if there are gaps in skills or knowledge.

Talk to your councilor! There must be something that can be done!

I don’t know about replacing the D on your transcript, but if you’re looking for college credit you can consider taking the psychology CLEP test.

Take them all online.

This is really a question to be addressed by the administration at your high school. You can take whatever you want over the summer, but your school’s policy will determine whether it shows up on your transcript, and whether the new grade will replace the old one, or if both will count toward your GPA. And even then, if both grades show on your transcript, colleges get to decide how they treat this. As for a two-semester course, only your HS will be able to tell you whether you can take half over the summer, and the other half in the Fall. I would think this is only possible if other students are doing the same - otherwise, how do they schedule such a class?
