I think it's totally stupid that my school carries their gpa to the thousandth. Let me give you my examples. So, my GPAs are
9th grade: 3.796, with 18 credits
10th grade: 3.938 with 16 credits
11th grade: 3.646 with 16 credits.
My GPA would be a 3.793.
Now, if my school carried to the 100s place:
9th grade: 3.80 GPA
10th Grade: 3.94 GPA
11th grade: 3.65 GPA
(3.818)+ (3.9416)+ (3.65* 16)= 189.94. 189.94/50= 3.796, whic rounds to a 3.8.
So, what do you think?

I think that when you’re 60 years old you won’t look at your life and say, “Man, I’d be so much better off if my GPA rounded to the hundredths in high school”

You can’t be serious…

Can’t tell if trolling or most pointless thread ever.

Either way it’s still a 3.8…

well, here’s my piont.
when you go somewhere, and they say 99 cents, initially most people’s reaction is that it’s 99 cents, not one dollar. my worry is that they’ll see a 3.79 as a 3.7, not the 3.8 that it is. i’m not trolling, and if you aren’t going to offer legitimate help, i don’t want you wasting space on my thread.

This thread is a waste of space in itself.

A 3.79 is a 3.79. It’s not a 3.8, it’s not a 3.7. It’s a 3.79. Not that complicated.

There is literally no difference and I can promise you a .01 difference will not hurt you in any way, you’re over-thinking it.

also, i do have autism spectrum disorder, and one of the symptoms is that i am obsessive, so that could be why i’m thinking about this.

I can assure you that there are greater things to worry about.

You’ll be fine. Admissions officers are careful enough to tell that your GPA is 3.8.

Ditto with the Yankee said…it really won’t make a difference. Sure it’s a 3.79. I could view it as a 3.8. I could view it as a 3.79. Difference is so small it doesn’t matter.

Most colleges reweight GPA according to their own system, or/and analyze the entire transcript. Believe me, this will probably only have a minimal effect at worse. Though I do understand that .002 of a GPA would mean more psychologically, I do imagine that most colleges will tell you that they do not have cutoffs nor do they solely look at grades for admissions.

Let’s assume just for the sake of argument that your concern is valid.

That being said, there are numerous variables colleges look at when deciding whether to accept you.
