I came in a little bit later. not late for class but just later to find parking. It was packed! I drove around for an hour and a half looking for parking till I ran out of gas. Should I email my professors asking what I missed? Think this will hurt my grade at all? I know participation are all in syllabuses for all my classes and Iknow I just can’t miss more than 3 classes till I’m dropped.
Your best bet is to email your professors about the situation and get whatever notes you missed, from either them or one of your classmates. Don’t expect them to waive the absence - though some might - but if you email them, it sends a message that you care about the class, and may help you later on in the semester.
Do not ask your prof for the notes, find a classmate for them. An email with an apology, explaining the parking problem, is fine, but don’t expect it to be an excused absence.
I would ask a classmate for the notes. When you email your professors, don’t ask, “Did I miss anything important?” That just sends the wrong message. Emailing them to explain your situation isn’t a bad idea, but I wouldn’t count on them to waive the absence. Just take a minor hit and arrive earlier next time.
Make sure you understand the parking system…most colleges have some kind of parking permit you have to buy…also always try the football stadium parking lot.
I literally have a sign on my office door that says:
When you ask, “Did I miss anything important?” I kill another kitten.
Also in the future decide if a parking ticket is better or worse than
missing class.
@bopper - My school has decided to issue 125 dollar parking tickets this semester for parking illegally.
You drove around for an hour and a half? At some point, you have to consider parking further away and walking. It’s better to be late than miss an entire class. I had to do that many times.
Have you figured out the parking situation?
