Obama has come to my school twice since April. The first time he came I had to take an exam. But this time I had a ticket, I planned all week to go and see him, and I was very excited. Instead I missed him again because my debate meeting lasted too long. Now I am pi**ed off. How many times do you actually get to see the president? I feel like today was a waste. When I could have spent some time doing something that could be one of my most memorable times in college and remember for the rest of my life, I had to unexpectedly try to listen to people that talk too fast to understand.

Who can cheer me up and help help me find a silver lining to all of this?

Both Romney and Obama were here yesterday afternoon. I was about a mile from where Romney was speaking yesterday. Obama spoke about an hour a way.

Sorry to hear that you missed out on this great experience! In the future, block out a whole day if possible to see the President. I’ve seen him several times and in my experience you should be in line by the time the doors open, preferably two hours before.

I’ve seen Obama twice – once in 2010 and again a few months ago at my old CC. There were a lot more people than I expected. I guess since Ohio’s a swing state, they pop up here whenever they get the chance.

While we were all waiting in line to see Obama, Mitt Romney drove by on his bus. He was speaking in a nearby suburb the next day and that bus went back and forth and back and forth and back and forth slowly about a half a dozen times until it just parked across the street. It was kinda weird, like a stalker ex drivin’ by in one of those crappy teen movies.

I don’t know what makes that college such a hot spot considering there’s damn near 10 (or more) universities and colleges in this area.

He was here 2 weeks ago? There were only 1000 or so tickets, and they had to stand in 100 F heat for 2 hours only to listen to more rhetoric. I heard they had people on rooftops, as well as people dressed in regular clothes, with ear buds. If I had the balls, I might have worn an ear bud just to f* with them.

Par for the cross when securing the president. In 2005 Bush’s motorcade came through my hometown on its way to Cleveland. My family didn’t realize it was happening. We had to go under and overpass of the highway it was on, so of course we couldn’t, cops from other towns were there, that’s how much security they needed at every overpass.

Then 2 years ago Obama came to speak at the local community college, which is located along a major road in the city. The college had this sort of half-day AP and CTE high school near it that about 4000 students throughout the county went to for part of the day. Most people with morning classes there were late or never made it at all. Then, humorously, Obama sent an e-mail “pardoning” the students.

My DS goes to a large college in a midwest state. The president came during our family weekend so my DS heard/saw him for the first time (we just saw him get off Airforce One since it was parked to our plane leaving at the time). DS saw him one more time freshman year and again last year. About a month ago the president was again at DS’s college so DH texted him to ask if he saw him. DS replied “Nah… he is here like every week it’s no big deal.” If I counted correctly the president has been on DS’s campus 10 times since DS started.
