I need 3 safeties...

International student from underrepresented country seeking lots of aid. Perfect gpa, 2270+ SAT, 730+ on 2 subject sats. I have prepared a long list of colleges and universities; however, I need some safety schools in case I get rejected everywhere else.
I intend to major in Computer Science and I prefer schools with 1000-7000 undergraduates. Location is not important.

Thanks for reading.

i don't know too much about international applicants, but i can tell you that vanderbilt might be a good bet as they're seeking to increase the # of internationals on campus.

University of Illinois Urbana

UIUC is not a safety for anyone. Public school+damn good.

Even with a 2270 and a perfect GPA? for the most part that's a safety at most public schools....but then again i don't know too much about UIUC so you're probably right.

It COULD possibly be a safety, but UIUC is a top 5 school for Engineering. So you can never be too sure.

Vanderbilt does not offer a CS major. Urbana is way too big and stingy. Any other suggestions?

I was just going to say Illinois-Urbana is too big anyways when you posted...

How about Stevens in NJ?...don't know much about this school
Rochester Institute of Technology
Drexel...maybe on the large side
Kettering in Michigan?...another school I'm unfamiliar with
Maryland-Baltimore County
University of the Pacific (Stockton, CA)

Missouri-Rolla may be a good option:
1. You'd easily get in as they're really looking for more diversity
2. They're the perfect size
3. Engineering and Computer Sciences are the big majors there

University of Washington computer science isn't bad. After all, Bill gates has donated a ****laod of money there.

renessaeler

^Seconded.

Guys, thanks for the replies.

-I was actually considering RPI cuz I got what they call "The Applicant's Choice" offer 3 weeks back and the university looked good to me.
--Missouri: Rolla sounds great but I'm worried about the financial aid; i'll apply anyway

Still looking for a third one.

RPI is good. Nice choice.

Hmmm...try RIT or Cal Poly SLO (the latter may be a bit bigger than you're looking for, but CA is the computer capital of the world, which is always a bonus).

Might go with RIT, thanks.
From their site: "Cal Poly does not offer financial aid to international students."

Any other suggestions are welcome.

Guys, I made up my mind: will go with U of Richmond, Trinity College and RPI

You'd say that these schools might not be safeties, but if I don't get accepted here, I don't deserve to study in the U.S. !!!

Thanks to all repliers!

YES...one of my suggestions were good :D

Guys, hope you wont mind suggesting me some safeties as well, looking for LACs with good physics major.
International, requiring lots and lots and lots of aid, 3.5 gpa, 2300 SAT, 800 in each of three subject tests.

I was about to say Caltech. Then I saw the word "safety".

"Caltech" and safety:D What a correlation!

OP: Good luck!

I ran a search for the best schools for international aid. Try Ohio Wesleyan, Eckerd, TCU, RIT, Barry, Knox, etc. Those should be safeties.
