I need a study plan for the SAT

I really need an intense plan for preparing for the SAT exam in October.
So I need your help guys.

I have the following books:

1) BB (Official Collegeboard SAT book)
2) Barron's SAT 24th edition
3)Barron's SAT Math workbook
4) Direct Hits
5) Huge amount of old SAT exams

I can buy more books, so you can recommend for me any good books.

Thx in advance :)

Start off by buying math and writing workbooks. Study them Monday-Friday ft about 3-4 hours each day. Then take a timed practice test on Saturday. After the test, go over what you got wrong. Rest on Sunday, then repeat. I’ve been doing this for about 2 months and my score has went up over 200 points. And study vocabulary every single day. It’s impossible to get all the sentence completions right if you don’t know your vocab. Hope this helps!

@ihatebacon
thx so much
It is a very nice plan
But the problem is that I can’t sit 3-4 hrs a days studying for the SAT
Maximum 2 hrs, and what do u recommend for good writing and math workbooks?

What you wanna do is space out your tests, so maybe one or two tests a week and intensively go over them. I’d say depending on how many tests you have, space them out so that you don’t run out before October. Btw, how did you get so many old SAT exams?

@wrongbelief
thx :slight_smile:
And I don’t want to get into details of how did I get these tests or else I would be in danger :P

Take a break every 45 minutes or so. It’s really not that bad.
If you need a lot of help and improvement, start off with Kaplan.
Once you get better, then get Princeton Review, then Barron’s.
(Kaplan is easiest and Barron’s is the hardest)

For what it is worth most studies have shown no difference or only a marginal difference for those that study for these tests.

I would go outside and toss the football around. Or go to the pool and fall in love. Its summer after all.

^^^ Are you kidding me?! Don’t listen to Bowtiefratty, OP. You can deinitely improve buttloads by studying.

Right now I’m using The Princeton Review’s 11 Practice Tests for the SAT & PSAT 2011 Edition. As for memorizing vocabulary, I’m using Barron’s PSAT/NMSQT, 15th Edition. It has 48 lists, each having about 32 words.

For preparation, I go to SAT tutoring 4 times a week. 2 classes for math, and 2 for reading/writing. Each class is 2 hours. In class, I just take sections of past SATs and get tips from the teachers. There are also vocabulary tests twice a week. These tests are based off of the Barron’s book that I mentioned above. I’m normally tested on 5 lists (2 review lists, and 3 new lists).

Hope this helped. Oh, and I’m an incoming 10th grader, so I’m keeping the studying pretty mellow.
