I need ADVICE ASAP!!!!

Hello everyone,

I need HELP ASAP!!! I’m a in my final year of college. I’m currently taking summer courses not because I want to but I’m in a catch 22 situation my mom lost her job after being employed at this company for 11 years. Shortly after she was diagnosed with arthritis and tendinitis. She can no longer work we have experienced many issues since then. She had a discussion with me a few months ago about moving across country to be family. With that being said I have 23 hours left before I complete my degree requirements. My mom mentioned “I need to try and finish by December because she is not leaving me where we reside at the moment alone”! I have weighed all of my options once she leaves I must go as well. I cannot stay on campus because I have no money to live on campus and she was denied for the parent plus loan. If anyone out there can offer me any advice I would highly appreciate it.

If she is denied the parent plus loan then you can borrow 4k more in direct loans.

They gave me more money (unsubsidized loan) but I still don’t have enough to live on campus.

Continue to search for resources, and consult a counselor. They will be able to help with specifics for your college. Especially if your are talking 23 hrs. after summer courses, there is little you can do about making these courses up in 1 semester. Some colleges have ‘intersessions’ which can help you make up some credits during times most of campus is closed, but the courses available are limited. You could also consider transferring to a college where you will have to move, but not all of your credits will likely transfer. You could also get a job and live frugally during your last year, but I know that may not be an option, and it would be difficult. Like I said, the best thing you can do is consult a counselor about this. I wish you the best of luck, and hope you find a solution to your problem.

Thank you!
