I'm a high school sophomore currently taking Honors Algebra II, Foundations of Medicine, Honors English 10, Honors Chemistry, AP Government, Banking & Credit, and Honors French 4 & my overall cumulative high school GPA is a 3.0... I slacked a lot during freshmen year and during the first semester of my sophomore year probably because I get distracted very easily and I don't have that much motivation. I'm ready to quit the bull**** and really work hard but I'm still hung up on if I've majorly screwed up to the point of no return or if I can redeem myself. If I get a 4.0 for the next 3 semesters until it's time to apply to colleges, I'll have a 3.5. Do you think I should just give up now or will my dream school, University of Miami, consider me? Tell the truth and nothing but the truth, feel free to be harsh. Thanks so much!

just get reallly high SAT scores and you’ll be fine,

If you can bring your grades up and do well on standardized tests, you should be fine. Work in some meaningful ec’s and write great essays. You’ll have a decent shot.

What exactly would qualify as “really high SAT scores”? like a 2000?

& thanks @qdawg2011 !

1700 plus is okay
2200 should start to make you really competitive and it could make up for any bad grades.

I’m kind of really relieved. thank you so much!
