I Need All The Chances I Can Get-HS Senior Applying to Bates College

Hey! This is my first post on here
I’m looking for chances for Bates (I applied Regular Decision), and plan on dual majoring in Pre Med and Creative Writing

-GPA (unweighted): 3.74
-My Junior year I got all A’s (including in AP English Language and AP Spanish)
-I got a 5 on AP Spanish and APUSH, and a 3 on AP English Language
-First semester took an Honors World History, Anatomy, AP Chem, and Advanced Creative Writing. I got an A in all of them except AP Chem in which I got a 75 because my guidance counselor never told me you needed to take honors to be successful in the class (I am so salty.)
-This semester I have a dual enrollment college class, AP Chem, Calc, and AP Literature
-Am in two clubs (Video Game Club and Outing Club) and president of one (Anime Club don’t kill me)
-Am in a Church choir, Girl Scouts, and National Honors Society
-Did 22 hours of community service at a local public library over the summer
-Did not submit SATs
-Have great recommendation letters
-My essay is about my life experiences (one of them being a school trip to Spain) and how they inspired my writing
-Submitted a five page double spaced story about a ghost passing into the afterlife as the house she’s haunted becomes dilapidated as my portfolio piece
-Got rejected from both ED I at Bowdoin and ED II at Colby

I got accepted into five schools already so it’s not like being rejected would be the end of the world. But it’s been killing my self esteem to get rejected from Colby and Bowdoin. (Any tips people have on coping with that would also be helpful even if they’re not the main purpose of this post)

I’m not a believer in chance threads. They’re usually answered by other kids, who have no better an idea than you of your real odds.

But I’m the mom of 3 teens, of of whom is a high school senior. She’s gotten two of those thin envelopes in the past months, one from her number 1 choice school… and yes, she applied knowing it was a reach.

Here, in a nutshell, is my advice: http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/college-admissions/2047371-so-you-didnt-get-in-p1.html

Good luck!!
