I need an HONEST Chance please!

I just need an honest chance!
I was deferred EA. I know my chances are not high at all, but I just want an idea.

Deferred EA
OOS
3.5 GPA
1820 SAT

My ECs are what make me stand out. I'm currently the president of a 7,000 member state wide club. I show tons of extra circulars which I hope will add to my application.

I've also sent mich a letter saying how bad I wanted to go, along with one of the three research papers i have written which have been recognized and awarded on the international level.

Chances? Thanks!

If they were especially impressed with the EC they would have admitted you, so I guess they aren’t. The GPA is too low, so I don’t think you’ll get in.

@vladenschlutte that is a good point.

Also, I’d like to say that my GPA for my 7th semester is a 4.1 (W), which is a tremendous increase. (The 3.5 GPA I listed above is UW).

I agree. Both test score and GPA are too low.

But he/she wasn’t rejected.

What is your research paper about and what do you mean by “international awards”? What kind of club are you Prez for and did you create the club?

Any other hooks? Minority? First gen? Anything else?

It is a high school business club. And my research paper was in a competition in which it placed Top-20 Internationally.

If the paper was something of professional work, aka published in a professional journal where actual people of the profession read (Ex: Researchers reading Nature in science), then it would mean a whole hell of a lot, but if it’s just some competition, in my opinion it doesn’t carry nearly as much weight because it’s just a competition. You aren’t publishing anything groundbreaking. Your EC is still awesome though, but your gpa is dragging you down

Chances are poor but likely at a 3.5 and your SAT, the school may not be a good fit for you. What other schools are you interested in?
