I need book suggestions

For my AP Lit class summer reading, we have to read books "of literary merit." Any suggestions?

Life of Pi. I just finished it today....amazing.

Great Gatsby. After reading it watch the movie too!

^ That is an amazing book, I second it!

I liked Kiss of the Spiderwoman. I've heard Perfume is also a good one, although I haven't gotten around to it yet.

*Pok

I read Perfume; a quick and decent book, although a little boring at times. Still, the whole concept of scent dictating how people are perceived is pretty cool.

Read The Brothers Karamazov by Dostoevsky. The way he portrays human character is so poetic and beautiful. The same goes for Jack Kerouac's On the Road, even if he is a bit too sentimental sometimes.

The Kite Runner never gets boring.

Grrr....my library doesn't have most of those books right now. It's okay though, I'm placing holds :-)

Okay, never letting little sister borrow library card EVER AGAIN. Because of her, I have like $5 in fines and thus can't place holds

literary merit? it depends on who(m?) you ask.

i personally like The Count of Monte Cristo

The Kite Runner, or even A Thousand Splendid Suns

I liked the latter compared to the former, because I thought the Kite Runner got boring SOMETIMES. I finished Splendid Suns in 4-5 days, it was that good lol

A lot of "scholarly" books are actually really good, for example, A tale of two cities. Just make sure you read the condensed version.

hey at least you get to choose ;-)

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I'm not being forced to read anything. But I do have to read enough to satisfy my lit teacher.

Madame Curie by Eve Curie--a biography.

Eve writes just plain beautifully.

Impossible. The library NEVER runs out of Pokemon. NEVER.

Okay, maybe I didn't look for Pokemon...

the picture of dorian gray, 1984, catcher in the rye
