Use examples from history.

Use critically-acclaimed books: Animal Farm, 1984, Catcher in the Rye, Catch-22, The Count of Monte Cristo, etc.

Make something up. As long as your example sounds believable and provides conclusive evidence to back up your thesis, you shouldn't have points taken off.

or use long boring books because english teachers are the ones grading them and will grade you higher if you use books above most highschool students.

^^^^not true...i made up everything in my essay and I got a 12.

Do you have the PR study book?

What is the general consensus on making up a book and plot to fit the subject? I know it's better to use a real book, but the grader isn't going to check, and it's better than using a personal experience.

Don't make up a book, I think they mean make up an experience. I believe it's recommended if you're really stuck... BTW I don't really support this idea.
