I need help choosing a degree. . .

I'm not sure what I want to do with my life. My teachers and parents keep asking me "So, what are you going to major in once you get to college?" But I just don't know! I don't know what is out there and I sure as heck don't know all of the different career options I have so that I can choose a college that I want to go to. Is it going to get easier? Are options going to appear through my high school? Or do I need to get out and experience life for myself to truly know what career choice that I want to pursue? I'm stressing out and don't know what to do!

You'll find out soon as you take classes. Don't worry.

Seriously, you have years to figure this out- don't worry.
If people ask you, just say undecided.

Besides, you've got until sophomore year of college anyway (at most places). You'll figure it out along the way.

^ I agree with Invoyable.

Go in to college undeclared, take some GE classes which have a wide array of intro classes (sociology, psychology, anthropology, etc.), and then figure out what you want to major in. It's good to have sort of a general idea of what you want to do with your life, but you don't HAVE to make a decision now.

Just take a diverse number of courses and remember to get those math and science classes down.

I've had people ask me since 8th grade about where I want to go to college, and what major I'd like. I'm sorry, people, but in 8TH GRADE, I have NO IDEA. I realize it's just a conversation starter, but I think it's a bit inappropriate to ask any of that before a student's senior year. I don't think I've talked to one of my classmates that knew any of that information before junior year. People just don't map out their lives that far in advance, and it's better that they don't.

But its hard with my parents cuz i have an older sister going to the ivy league school Brown and an older sister that dropped out of community college! so who do u think my parents are PRESSURING me to become? that's right! i have NO room to be myself, i have to by my older sister and it bugs the hell out of my and like no matter how much i tell them they don't quit. I know its a problem with my parents but like still its made me start worrying because they are starting to make me think that if I don't go to Ivy League I won't have a future at all!
