So, I have the REAL ACT PREP GUIDE and, I am needing another book. Which book do ya'll recommend? I prefer a book that is as close to the real ACT test as possible.

Barron’s 36? Princeton Review’s 1296 questions?

Thanks… Do you have any experiance with the Kaplan Premier? I “THINK” I like it. But, I am not sure how easy/hard it is compared to the ACT.

I also read some reviews that said Barron’s 36 really doesn’t explain why the answer was wrong? Is this true?

Definitely not true… They’re actually pretty good about explaining the answer… And I haven’t had any experience with Kaplan, but I’ve heard their practice questions/tests are easier than the actual thing… So watch out for that…

OK. Thanks so much. I think I am going to go with McGraw-Hill’s Top 50 Skills for a Top Score and Barron’s 36!

I would still apperciate any advice from anyone else. I have not ordered these yet.

There is a book to go along with the free ACT prep on the act website
http://www.act.org/aap/pdf/preparing.pdf

It’s called “Dissecting the ACT 2.0” or something like that. written by a perfect scorer and his sister who scored a 35. I have it and it goes through everything you need to know for each section and then some. It goes over all the example tests in the above link and explains why the right answer is right and the others are not, and just gives miscellaneous tips and what not. only like $9 on amazon, has lots of good reviews.

I tried the basic Barron’s ACT, and I did not like it. It goes too far in depth in the math section, and its practice tests don’t resemble the actual ACT well enough.

I personally like Princeton Review test prep materials. I would recommend them.

Princeton review is great. If you already have one book then I would focus on getting a book with just questions like the Princeton one with 1296 question rather than another review book with lessons and such in it.

Thanks everyone for your help. I will try what ya’ll have suggested. :)

What I liked more than anything is the Advantage Point software. There are several real tests included that you can print out and it scores your test, analyzes your score, and tells you what your weakest subareas area. There are tutorials for each section and lots of links. I found this to be the most valuable studying tool of all.

Momom2: That’s cool… I would definetly like that… Where is the best place to purchase it at online?

You can find it on Amazon. Advantage Point test Prep or “Boost Your Score: ACT”. I think it’s about $15.
