I need help picking a college

Hello! I am looking for advice on which college I should attend. I am a high school senior looking for a biology major and eventually Veterinary Schools. My top two choices are Kansas State (I am a Kansas Resident) and Colorado State.
Basically, Kansas State is a safe, cheap route, but Colorado State is my “dream school.” I have an unweighted GPA of 3.9 and an ACT of 33 and have been accepted into both colleges. At Kansas State, I am looking at tuition of about 10,000 per year, and about 30,000 per year at Colorado State. Colorado State is the school that I want to go to, it has the campus that I love, the area that I love, and it is a much better school. However, since I am looking at 8 years of schooling instead of the traditional 4, I am looking for advice on which college I should pick. Thank you for all of your input!

Let me know if there is any other information you need from me

It’s all about what your family can afford, ztfawver. For many families, the ‘dream’ isn’t worth the cost differential, but that is a highly subjective judgement based on your family’s finances and values. Your parents are the only ones whose opinion really matters in this case.

(ignore this comment, I misread your initial post)

Save your money, go in state. Vet school is expensive, and it is hard to pay back loans on a vet’s salary.

Go for the cheap one.
save your/ your parents $$ for Vet school.
Visit Colorado on vacation.

Because of the Western Undergraduate Exchange, students from about 15 states in addition to Colorado can go there much cheaper than paying the full out of state tuition. Unfortunately, Kansas is not one of those states. You would be one of the very few students there paying full out of state price to attend. I don’t think it’s worth it at all, unless the $80,000-plus extra it costs is pocket change to your parents and they share your dream of you living there.

Why don’t you fall in love with Kansas State? I’ve read so many articles saying it’s in one of the best college towns in the country. Consider yourself lucky to be able to go there at in-state tuition rates.

I’m assuming you’re admitted to both universities when I give this advice. If you haven’t applied yet, then apply to both and see what happens, and then make your decision.

Don’t you get a near full ride at Kansas State for ACT33+UW3.9? Has the policy changed due to budget cuts?
$10,000 tuition + R&B is way too much when you can have full tuition scholarships to schools as good or better.
If you can move OOS, I’d STRONGLY consider cheaper options, such as ASU Barrett and especially UAlabama.
At UAlabama, for those stats, you’re automatically entitled to a full tuition scholaship, plus honors dorm, honors college, and allowed to compete for “research based” or “service based” honors-within-honors opportunities.
UAlabama is higher ranked than Kansas State, has a nationally-tops honors college, AND hasn’t suffered budget cuts the way Kansas universities have. Their science facilities are top-notch. And the money you save on tuition can go toward your vet school education.
