Hi guys I was just wondering what I could do to improve my essay writing skills.
My essays constantly gets like an 8 but I want to make it higher

strong intro thesis that clearly shows your position of either agreeing, or disagreeing

3 body paragraphs for 3 examples

Normally i would say, use a historical, a literary, and a current issue example

write as much as you can to get the ‘alot of stuff written’ requirement

use some high level vocabulary

sum it all up in ur conclusion

I think thats pretty much the premise of the essay

Are there any structure formats to follow to have like a good intro and conclusion. Those to paragraph are where I draw a blank about introducing my opinion and for conclusion I’m like really redundant repeating things over

Here’s how I did my essay.

Brainstorm for at least 2 minutes (write up ideas for body paragraphs in margin of page with prompt)

Strong intro (include quote - make up if necessary, ETS doesn’t care about historical accuracy - also don’t have to link quote with person - look at my comment here for quote information - <a href=“Usage of quotes in the SAT essay - #2 by redwall1521 - Test Preparation - College Confidential Forums”>Usage of quotes in the SAT essay - #2 by redwall1521 - Test Preparation - College Confidential Forums) includes building up to thesis. The thesis should be the last sentence of the intro paragraph.

Two body paragraphs - three ONLY if you have time and/or you are a very fast writer. Make sure these paragraphs are well formatted - intro sentence, text, conclusion sentence. You want about 5-6 sentences per paragraph.

Conclusion - Rewrite thesis sentence from intro as first sentence. Summary prompt/your stance in about 3-4 sentences.

Throughout, you want to use high level vocabulary, like thegrant said.
