I need serious help on ACT prep

I just got my scores today. They were absolutely terrible, even by my standards. Granted, this is my first time taking either the SAT/ACT and took the test cold (which was a bad idea).

I need some tips on improving my scores and get at least a 30. Can someone give me tips on how you prepared?

I have a Princeton Review ACT book, and a ton of SAT books. Can I study the ACT with SAT prep books?

Should I take any prep courses? I know everyone says they are unnecessary, but I am desperate to get my score up. I can afford the courses. It's impossible for me to really self study because I get distracted too easily.

Help please? Thanks.

What were your subscores and overall composite?

yea there's a big differnce in pulling a 28 up to a 30 and pulling a 19 up to a 30. it just takes strategy and diligence. i pulled my PSAT score up 20 points after about 3 months of practice.

oh, yea DONT use SAT books. use ACT. especially princeton review and the REAL ACT prep guide. both are great and very different, just make sure you use BOTH. PR is like, "let's outsmart the test." and RAPG has ACTs that wer actually administered nationally.

definitely do not use SAT books..
