I need some advice, everyones opinion is really appreciated

Guys, i really messed up freshmen year and i got a 2.0 gpa... i know colleges like to see an upward trend and this year (sophomore year) i got a 3.5, but is the 2.0 too drastic of a bad grade to compensate for this year and my next two years grades? What are the MINIMUM grades i will need to earn junior and senior year in order to get into a college thats not commuter, but residential (please don't name absurd colleges either, rather ones you would want you or your children to attend, not like hamburger university)? could you also give me an AVERAGE estimate of where my extracurricular activities and SAT scores should be by the time i graduate? and also what colleges should i be looking at assuming my 3.5's are constant for the next two years?

I would also like to take my time to thank everyone who answers, i cannot put in words how greatly appreciated this is. My college counselors are terrible and hardly help the students, once again thanks!

I would think any of your state schools would be a fairly easy option to get into...disregarding schools such as UMich, UVA, UF etc.

A solid SAT score of 1200+ can get you into most average state schools so I would shoot for that or higher...you have good courseload and good extracurrics. so no worries there. I'd also look into some liberal arts schools if you dont like the size/appeal of a state school. Keep in mind that a high upward trend of grades looks very good and that many schools don't factor in freshman year when taking into account your resume. Also if there was a reason for your low grades freshman year, besides pure laziness, you could explain that in an essay such as an illness or close relative death.

What schools have you been considering or would like to see yourself at?

Edit: you might want to move this to the "College Admissions" board to get more responses
