I did the practice test in PR and I just want to cry! I understood the passages but I just coulnd't get the questions right! Any tips please? I need a 750+ in June.

Hey, I’ve seen some of your other posts about Lit and I’m having the same problems as you are. I got 670 on the Jan. test but I’m hoping for 750+ on all my subject tests. I really don’t know how to improve on Lit. I’ve studied Barron’s a lot and have taken 17 practice tests…but I guess I’m just not a natural at it. However, I must take Lit because (besides Bio and Math II, my other two Subject Tests) I don’t know any other topics. (It would take me too long to memorize history.)

Just wanted to say – you’re definitely not alone. Good luck with it.

Take AP English :D. I know this isn’t helpful or anything but that is what has helped me immensely in understanding the Literature SAT. It’s all about analyzing things like plot structure and certain poetry terms. Try using AP English Literature study guides like 5 Steps to a 5 or look up resources online.

@SpiritualWitch: Do you feel that AP resources are a lot better to prepare from than Barron’s? Because I felt I prepared pretty thoroughly with Barron’s (memorizing terms, understanding plot structure and poem types, etc.) so I would like to know how much of an edge the AP books would give me.

(I can’t take AP Lit because my school doesn’t have APs, although I am taking college English right now.)

I’ve finally decided that I will battle with the test until I win. I just can’t give up literature even though I am Asian.

Haha I’m half Asian :)

I’m not sure if I will “battle” it as you will…I guess I will give it another try though.
