i'm trying to pick an early decision school to apply to by the november 1 deadline. Obviously, i'm running out of time! Problem is ,I'm pretty indecisive...

Pomona is basically a perfect college. amazing campus, top notch academics, very smart but fun students (i did an overnight there so i got to meet a lot of people). weather is a plus (I hate winter). No greek life, which i see as fine. Has the benefits of a small school while at the same time having the resources of the other Claremont colleges as well.

Kenyon has a cute campus, great new art buildings being constructed. Town is pretty small, though, and the weather does get cold there. Some greek life, but that's ok too. Had a great interview, but I didnt get to do an overnight and see what life is like. Though i'm able to name a few downsides, it's the only school i've ever visited where i got the gut feeling of "wow. i could really see myself here". But maybe that's just because I was having a good day or something, not linked to the school?

can someone tell me why pomona is really the best?

If you're undecided about which school you like best, why ED anywhere?

you said it yourself, pomona is the perfect college (though i'm biased). If you could see yourself at both schools go to pomona- it has top notch academics and everyone is chill. If you'll have reservations / regret about not applying to kenyon though i might hold back. Were you the girl that prospied in WIG 2-- i remember someone saying she was thinking about kenyon.

I would agree that if you are undecided, you should go with RD. ED is really for those applicants who really want to attend a specific school. If you're feeling any ambivalence whatsoever, apply RD. (It does sound as if you're leaning toward Pomona . . .)

Good luck!

apply to both schools regular decision if you are undecided. Pomona is an amazing college, you could not go wrong there but it always is about fit.

Early decision should be reserved for an all time favorite, a definite.
I can't imagine not choosing Pomona but I too am biased.

i think I stayed in mudd hall when i wwas there...

I dont see how pomona wouldnt be a good fit either. But i did just get a really good gut feeling when i saw kenyon.
the thing is, i'm pretty sure I'd be happy at either school once i got there. I want to apply ED to take some of the pressure off. It would also probably increase my chances of getting in. (I'm taking a gap year right now -- I got rejected/waitlisted at lots of schools last year and really want to make sure that doesnt happen again)

Well what you could consider is early decision at Pomona as it ( I am assuming) is the more difficult of the two to get accepted to. If you get wait listed or rejected then you could apply to Kenyon.
Whatever decision you make check in with your gut once it is made, and before you send out the mail.
You do know that reps frequent these boards to keep up on current issues. Early decision is a commitment on your part so you need to feel good about the decision.
I can say that my son and all of his classmates that I've gotten to know have never regretted their choice and have loved their college experience.
Best of luck to you. Keep us updated on your decision.

ok after a LOT of debating and loss of sleep , I decided on Pomona!!

It really is a better fit for me, and has everything i'm looking for. It helped when you guys said that you couldn't imagine applying anywhere else over pomona. Now that I've decided, I'm really excited about it. Thanks!

kenyon does have EDII so if pomona doesnt let me in (which is very possible because it's definitely a top school), I'll still have something to fall back on.

D applied EDI; there was some initial angst because it is a big commitment. But she's never regretted it, and absolutely loves Pomona.

Good luck!
