i need ur advice!! ucla with communication major!

im applying to ucla with communication major this year and im done with IGETC and 5/7 of pre-requirements.

this fall semester i am taking the 6th pre-requirement. however, the teacher that im taking is well-known as a really hard teacher and students' review was horrible. i know some people took her class and couldnt even pass the class. (the review says its very hard to even pass her class.) yet, my college only offers her class and im supposed to take her class in order to finish 6/7 pre-requirements.

im very afraid if i get a B or even lower grade on my pre-requirement. (as communication major is very compacted and the average gpa of accepted applicants this year was 3.95)

i thought of taking the class in another college. but the class is not offered at any colleges but my college and santa monica (as far as i know)

i am an international student and im going back to my country next spring as im done taking 60units and so im not able to take the class next spring. (this fall is the only chance to take the pre-req.)

i know the classes in ucla are tough and so i shouldnt whine about the hard class in community college but i dont want any risk and so im thinking of dropping the class.

my question is, is it risky to not take one pre-requirement and apply to compacted major?
should i keep taking the class or should i drop it?

what is the class by the way? If you can give me the name of the class I can search it online and see where you can take it or give you hints. There must be some colleges that have this class available. If I were you, I would search and search for an easier professor. Risks are part of life, but if you have the time and effort to find out another college you can take it, then I suggest you keep on trying. good luck

thank you! it is origins of english (ucla) which is linguistics in my college.

Well I’ll chime in as an incoming Comm. Studies transfer for this Fall…

It was possible to get in without completing all the prereqs even at that avg. GPA for admits, but I’m thinking the main excuse is if those prereqs aren’t offered at your current/last CC – that’s what happened w/me.

Since that’s not the case with you (at least for that one prereq) I kind of like UCLA3456’s idea to be on the safe side :)

Why dont you take the class at a different school?

well i go to diablo valley college and i know there is one college, santa monica college, which offers the class. i looked up all the colleges near my college to take the class but none of these colleges offered the class.
