I needed to submit my Cal Grant GPA Verification Form to CSAC by March 2, 2008?

I figured I'd ask you guys since most of you are dealing with Cal Grant information too, I presume.

I am a transfer student that will be transferring from a California Community College to a University of California College. I checked my UCSB Unofficial Financial Aid award and it said I am eligible for around $7000 from the Cal Grant if I submitted my Cal Grant GPA Verification Form to CSAC by the March 2, 2008. I was unaware of this submission. I always though that once I filled out my FAFSA I would be given the option of all the federal grants. No one told me about a GPA verification. So, essentially what I am asking is, am I too late? I can still apply for the Cal Grant next year, right? I don't see why I shouldn't.

Also, since this is the case, are there any scholarships that are still available this late?

If your school files electronically, you might have gotten lucky.

My current community college or the UC I wish to attend?

your community college. You can find out by going to the financial aid office and asking if they file electronically or if you have to submit a gpa verification form. Otherwise, you should be fine to file next year.

Oh, awesome. I'll check with my college. Thanks.

They do it every year whether you apply for a Cal Grant or not. They would have turned it in on time, so don't worry too much but still go ahead and ask. :)

My CC doesn't. I had to request they do it personally.

Hmm I don’t think the original question was answered, so I shall attempt to do so. In one of the Cal Grant websites, there is an area where you can print out a Late GPA verification form. This obviously implies that students are able to send in their GPA verifications late albeit it doesn’t answer the more important question: how late? I really hope I may be eligible for Cal Grant as I am transferring to a UC for the Fall of 09. Nine thousand would be an enormous amount of weight off of my family’s shoulder.

Yeah, i THOUGHT my cc did it automatically…but after viewing my aid awards, i didn’t didnt see any calgrant info. Then i looked into it and found out i was supposed to file it/request it.

I think im going to fill out the late gpa verfication thing. It says the deadline is may 18th…

Problem is, you have to provide a reason for why we weren’t able to file it on time…but i dont think that not knowing you were supposed to do it is a good reason. or is it? i need a better reason!!

I did not want to make a thread myself but i have a question kinda related to this.
I submitted my FAFSA and GPA verification (I think my school does it for me) waay before the March 2 deadline. But on my FAFSA, I forgot to add all the schools I applied to.
When I did the corrections this morning to add those schools, I was pretty sure that it wouldn’t let me – but it did. Do you guys think it will get through?

^
Yes it will. Just wait a week. The Federal Student Aid Commission will send you an e-mail saying they have updated it and has sent your FAFSA to all the new/added schools. Don’t worry.

I didn’t complete the GPA Verification Form last year but the California Student Aid Commission still gave me my Cal Grant, and no my old school did not file it automatically. I think it was becuase I had Cal Grant my first year…so they automatically had me on file.

Good luck. [:

Did you ever get the cal grant even if you did it late? i sent in my forms 6 weeks ago (which was late) and i havent heard back yet
