I never get a lot of answers but I need suggestions.

I've posted this before but I never get a decent amount of answers. I am an incoming junior but since I have nothin to do this summer I thought it would be a good time to start looking in Case I decide I want to do early admission.

I want to go to a school in NYS that's within 4 hours of NYC in either direction. Not IN NYC

I want a School that offers a childhood education major and a minor that Is like counseling ( is it psychology?)

I want a school with dorms

For a low price < 20k

My stats

-So far a 97 GPA so a 4.0 on a 4 point scale?
-10+ hours of community service ( I'm working on it, have some issues that prevent me from doing more At the moment but I'll have more by the end of this summer)
- Partial honors, English and social studies. No AP's offered until junior year, then only 1.
-1500-1900 on SAT ( range is based on PSAT's)

EC
- key club(community service)
-g2L (community service)
- SAVY ( studets against violence in youth. Promoting non violence in schools)
-recreational fast pitch softball team captan (5 years)
- top 10% in a class of ~ 1000

I just need some ideas because my mom and I want to road trip upstate and thought this would be a good time to see schools.
Schools in mind are only SUNY's

SUNY cortland and bing

Also if anyone has experiences on teaching please share :)

I would work on your spelling and grammar this summer .

Alright well I’m on my iPod, so it corrects a lot and I’m writing quick. Besides that I didn’t ask you to correct my grammar. My writing is not my concern, it never has been. If you are going to complain about my writing please don’t bother posting because that has nothing to do with what I want to know. I am only interested in real and relevant answers, thank you.

My 15-1900 for the SAt is based on PSAT as well as practices I’ve gotten mid 16-17 and high 1800 almost 1900. I am not a good test taker, so My actual will probably be close to a 17ish.

try the college search tool at this link [College Search - College Confidential](http://www.collegeconfidential.com/college_search/)

I’ve seen your requests but can’t answer because your needs are specific and I don’t know the area. Good luck. :)

Go to Barnes and Noble. Retrieve the Fiske Guide from the shelves and retire to the coffee house. Identify all schools in NY and surrounding states. Read about each of them to see if they interest you. Write them down. Research each identified school on the web. You really don’t need CC to identify a list of potential schools you just need to take some time and research on your own.

Is the 97 weighted? If so, what is your GPA unweighted?

The 97 is my unweighted GPA

The difference between 1500 and 1900 on the SATs is huge.

Note that average SAT score at Bing is about 1900 while Cortland is about 1600.

You can use this link to search for SUNY schools that offer a major in childhood education.

[SUNY: Campus Search](http://www.suny.edu/student/search_campus/search_campus_start.cfm)

Ugh I know! :frowning: I hate that the range is so big. My tests are just like all over the place! Thanks for the link though

Ok…

Since you have a budget of less than $20k (is that what your parents have said that they will pay? What number did they give you??)…and you want to be within 4 hours of NYC (in NYS)…

You need to look at the SUNYs that within that range. I don’t think there’s really other options. Privates will likely be too expensive unless there are some that will reduce their costs to about the cost of a public…and I don’t know if your test scores will be high enough for that.

Here’s a map of the SUNY campuses…look to see which are within your range and make a list.

Then, look at each schools’ website for …*childhood education major and a minor that Is like counseling ( is it psychology?)
*

Would that be psychology I think it is? Or is it called something else?
