I normally wouldn't...

I normally wouldn't do this kind of thing, that is, posting my high school career so other people can judge it, but I am really a Duke hopeful and would like some opinions. So if you don't mind, chance a fella :)

Thanks for suffering through this guys!!

…bump…

Dude, I think you’ll totally get in with all those ECs.

How’d you fare on your APs? Are you a rising junior or senior?

I’m a rising senior. I got a 4 on AP eng lang. And a 4 on APUSH (self study, our regular history class is only post civil war). And i’m taking AP Lit and AP gov’t and self study Economics this year. So we’ll see… and thanks for your encouragement!!

Looks like a very strong resume. Have you considered applying ED? This as an ED resume would look promising. Essays, recs, and interview need to be standout.

I have thought about ED, however, even though Duke is my first choice, finances will play a huge part is whether or not I can attend. That is why I am weary of applying ED and being binded to a school. My family makes just under or 100k, so i’m not in the best spot as far as financial aid, so i feel forced to apply Regular Decision.

Good/Great chance.

Thank you!

Bumpppppp :d :d :d

Hey Zack,

Solid resume. Make sure you show Duke admissions the best aspect of yourself and market yourself in the best light possible. I do not mean start lying to them, but show them the best of you. If I were you, I would try to get the ACT up. Look at what the mean/median ACT scores are for Duke, and yours may fall in that. If you are thinking Pratt, I would get that up. Even for trinity, higher doesn’t hurt haha. Get in touch with the Duke admissions counselor now. Email them, let them know you want to be a future Dukie, and maintain relationship with that person. So when the board gets together, you know someone will know your story. Feel free to send additional essays after you have submitted your commonapp to Duke. Just send the letter to the Duke admissions, and they will add that to your profile. It shows them you are interested.

Do not talk much about Blue Devil pride/Cameron Crazy/Duke basketball. Everyone loves this, so don’t waste their time nor your word count on this. But you are a solid person. You just have to show Duke you want it more than the next guy in line. Any more Q’s just PM me kid. Take care.

I normally wouldn’t wake up after my alarm clock rings.
