I pledge allegiance....

Everyday at school we have to say the Pledge of Allegiance in class (I avoid doing so). My sister has to sing patriotic songs in her class. Does anybody think that this is wrong? I mean, we're the only country (other than military dictatorships) that force kids to pledge allegiance to their country and their flag.

I never stood up for the pledge during my senior year of high school. By that time, I was sick and tired of it. It's all BS, anyway.

I never say it.

why not say it. it not a bad thing.

I cant believe what I read on the first 3 posts, unbelievable. If ur not proud of this country, then get the **** out.

Wow ok I have to say something. Being a "liberal" is one thing. Being a freaking hippie who thinks being "forced" to say the pledge is a violation of their "rights" is something completely else. What is wrong with you?! Youre a brat ya know? You live in the US where you can go to your fancy prep high schools and apply to your 40K/year ivy league colleges. And at the end of the day, you come home, get on your laptop that your parents got you and complain about how youre forced to say the pledge.....you have issues. This country has given you EVERYTHING and you can't even find enough courtesy to say a few freaking lines in the morning?! Ya know, this isnt even about rights, this is about whether you are able to respect the US and what it stands for. Like I said, there is a fine line between being a liberal and being a whiny little b!tch.

I second that.

What zipdrivekid said, but with more feeling.

.-_-.

i would put more feeling snoopy, but im sick of getting banned and my college has a thing about posting stuff on message boards....soooo

I'm sorry if I've offended you, zipdrivekid, but I do think that being forced to say something that I don't belive in is a violation of my rights.

My aim here was not to have another view-bashing thread. I want to have some intelligent, calm discussion, so if you don't like that then you can get out.

I agree with zipdrivekid...

You hippies always offend me! Why dont you take your calm discussion, stick it on the tip of the flag pole that you ignore every morning, and shove it up your butt. Now, thats my opinion of what you should do should you choose to ignore the pledge....just an opinion! You want an intelligent discussion about the pledge.....lets talk about the "under god" clause...but no, you dont want to say it in general. It is also my opinion that you should move to Canadia :)!

Okay, if you want to talk about the "under god" clause, go ahead--at least we might get some intelligent thoughts out of you (though I doubt it) rather than just insults.

It always the same with you guys! "Republicans are stupid, all they do is insult people and molest pages! BLAH BLAH BLAH!" I REFUSE to talk about the "under God" (note God with a big cased 'G') because that was not the original point of this thread. The original point of this thread was you and your laziness in your refusal to say the pledge of allegiance.......by chance are you an American citizen? then you must say the pledge! You have yet to convince me how being "forced" to say the pledge is a violation of our constitutional rights!

God damn libertarians want to ruin this country for their damn eutopia imaginations. Go live in the woods you damn Henry David Theoreua enthusists!

"I'm sorry if I've offended you, zipdrivekid, but I do think that being forced to say something that I don't belive in is a violation of my rights."

If you don't believe in the Pledge, if you aren't proud to be an American, why don't you move to some socialist hellhole that you'd be proud of? No one is forcing you to stay where you don't want to be.

I don't believe in God, but I say the pledge anyways. And it's not like I would get in trouble if I don't.

Do you think average American adults say the pledge every day after they get out of work? No...

I think it's okay to say it. It shows that you care and are loyal to the country you're in. I know you probably shouldn't be forced to say it, if you have serious religious issues or whatever, but it isn't something to get angry about.

Someone said US is the best country in the world. I disagree. Most powerful for sure but best??

The US is not the best in alot of ways. Our foreign policy sucks and our education is horrible.

America is the most powerful though.

jamn ya got me all wrong....Im just saying that if you are in a setting and the pledge is about to be said, the decent thing to do would be to join in and say it.
