Misc.
I only live with my father(he's a single parent). Total annual income is less than $20,000. Don't know if that plays a role. I'm also going to be a first-generation college student. Neither of my parents have even graduated high school.

2 very good recommendations. One of my recommendations is from my calculus teacher who has had me since 9th grade and on top of that, has graduated from Stanford. He got his Ph.D. in Aerospace engineering from Stanford, does that help?

So, in short, how low are my chances? 0.1%?

Probably about 1-5%, if you insist upon a number.

Your GPA is ok and your SAT is somewhat low for Stanford. Your ECs do not stand out, and you don’t have anything resembling a hook.

Try the UCs instead. You have a very good shot into UC Berkeley, being a California resident.

still apply to stanford and try your best

and you don’t have anything resembling a hook.

First generation college and an income under 20k isn’t a hook? Um yes it is.

I don’t think it’s a hook, but it’s really neat that you’re half Japanese, half Serbian. Can you speak either language? I see a possible essay topic

Is it really a hook to be first generation college? I have heard yes and no. I am leaning towards a weak yes. I’m not sure that it’s a hook in the sense of URM or legacy or athlete.

Well, I am applying to the top-tier UCs, but I just wanted to see if it was worth applying to Stanford.
