... I'm pretty sure I won't make the cut for SFS. And let alone getting into GU or Georgetown College.

Someone told me that you could apply to both the College and SFS. Is the true? It does not seem like it would be, but can you apply to more than one school?

Would majoring in political science and/or economics be just a slight step down from doing something in SFS? After all it is still Georgetown and that degree holds a lot weight in DC and around the country.

Thanks, I'm posting this from my iPod so I might add more later.

I believe the closest College degree compared to SFS would be majoring in Government in the College.
Also note that the SFS has six or seven majors and not all of them are straight politics (International Economics, International Political Economy, Science Technology and International Affairs, International History, etc.)

The Government major in the College is one of the most popular majors at Georgetown. Even as an SFS parent, I will tell you that it is not a “step down”. My son has many friends who are Government majors and they have had wonderful opportunities in and out of Georgetown.

Don’t think Georgetown is “SFS or bust”. You can only apply to one school. Apply where you think you will shine.

You can always transfer between schools at the end of your first year, or even write a letter after you get in before the end of June expressing the fact that you would like to change schools. Plus, the government major is still top-notch and you can take a lot of the same classes as SFS kids. If you’re in the college, you can double major and minor, which you cannot do in the SFS, so the government major can be appealing as well.
