i REALLY love harvard. but is this possible, at all?

I really, really, really like Harvard, I visited the school over the summer and literally fell in love with it. I also had a chance to talk to the dean (although I did not tell him my name... stupid.) and liked him as well. He was just soooo chill :D
I know I am wayyyyyyyyyy too insufficient for this school but I thought I'd still give it a try.

So here's my stat :)

SAT I: CR 640 (sdgaqwenkl;ga) M 770 W 770 (essay10) -> highest
SAT II: Math2 790 (sdgajkladgnklwa), Physics and Lit 640 (sdajkltnkl;qsdgnla)
Retook physics and lit in December. Also took WH. Can't tell if I did well.
Sorry. I go crazy whenever I see 640. And I always make stupidest mistake on math...

GPA: 4.13 (weighted) -> One B+ in my Freshman year, and straight A's in sophomore and junior year. Have one B+ right now. Curse you AP Lit... D:
Senior yr course: 5 APs, span II, marketing II

EC: Not that impressive but commitment is shown. lots of community service, president of one club, kinda well-rounded, two honor societies, internship... you know. normal stuff.
Honors: none really, except for the school level hey-you-got-straight-As! ones.
Rec: Pretty sure they will be good. I'm very close with my teachers and counselor, and I think they like me as well. My counselor and one of the teachers knows me very well, both academically and personally. As for another one, I had a lot of fun with in her class, and she is known for writing good recommendation letters.

So, not at all impressive... right? I'm barely an average... UGH. why didn't I try harder?!!

Only "hook" I have is that I've been living in USA for merely 3 years. (You probably noticed it reading my awkward English:) I was in ESL until my sophomore year, so if they look at the courses I've taken, they will def see that I've improved and challenged myself throughout my high school years. ...hopefully. I'm trying my best to show/explain my possibilities in the essays.
Also I had some stuff going on in my family, my father was arrested twice (Nothing felonious, though... First was because of business, second mental instability.) and I witnessed the "scene" both times. My common app essay is on his effects on me.

Oh. And I'm ASIAN. to specify, KOREAN.
And I will be applying as an international student... :( Harvard is pretty much my only hope, because I need financial aid and not many schools offer it to international students.

So what do you think? Is it IMPOSSIBLE for me to get in? D:
My hope is not very high, given the stat that I have... But can I at least pray for it? haha. For Ivy League schools, I'm also applying to Dartmouth, Yale, Princeton, Cornell, and Columbia. Chance me for these schools as well if you could. Pleaseeeee.
It will make me feel very happy to see comments on my post. :) Thank you!

You are guaranteed to have your application looked at. :)

if you have trouble with english that may hurt the quality of your essay, relative to the other applicants.

i can write fairly well. …i think. i make errors in diction and grammar sometimes but i am/will be going over every one of my essays with my AP lit teacher and somebody else that i know as often as i can.
do recs, essays and the interview help a lot? cuz as you can see, my stats are not very good.

Apply to Harvard, but please don’t assume its your only shot. There are a few schools, more with your stats that might admit internationals with enough aid for you to go.

[Schools Awarding International Financial Aid](Schools Awarding International Financial Aid)

Middlebury is no longer need blind to internationals.

yep, i already know about that. im applying to all except MIT.
im not saying that it’s my only shot, i just like Harvard the most :] but then again, i haven’t visited williams, amherst and dartmouth… maybe i’ll end up liking one of them more :stuck_out_tongue: and without a doubt, all are wonderful schools.
btw, that website seems really helpful. thank you!

nothing more? :o
sat II score came out. physics went up to 710, also scored 710 on WH, (should have studied harder… but for a week of studying, i guess i did okay) and lit went up to 670.
so i guess i won’t be sending my score for lit?
or should I? would that cover my CR score at least a little? it’s still not even 700, but it’s better than 640…

highly unlikely at H

everybody really loves harvard :/

yes, i know D: i’m just applying. nothing to lose anyways, right?

Yes, you really have nothing to lose other than time spent on the app, plus the application fee. I think you’re in contention for the running though. Perhaps your interview as well as your essay can really help convey your information about how much you love Harvard and how you’ve learned a lot of English while living in the US for only 3 years.

Not going to lie, Harvard really has very qualified candidates and even the ones with a 2400 on SAT are rejected but people with 2000 get in due to their witty personalities or something unique they’ve shown.

Good luck! 행운을 빌어요

thanks, I REALLY REALLY need it :D
