I really need help choosing a college!

My plan is to attend medical school after completing my undergrad education. From what I've found out, it doesn't really matter what undergrad college you go to as long as you do well on the MCAT, keep up your GPA, etc. So, my simplest choice would be to go to the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, and then apply to UAMS in Little Rock.

However, I don't know if I want to live in Arkansas any longer! California and Florida both appeal to me. So, now for my question:

What colleges in either state are the best to apply to, and which medical schools are the best? I know I said it doesn't matter which college, but I still want to go to one where I'll get a quality education without being immensely difficult to maintain a high GPA.

Other colleges I've looked at include OSU in Stillwater, and Yale.
I'm considering OSU because I've heard their campus is really nice, which would be the only reason I'd go to a school in Oklahoma. Also, do you even think it'd be worthwhile to apply to Yale?

Thanks!

It’s hard to imagine that someone would apply to both OSU as an out-of-state student and Yale. Are you likely to qualify for need-based financial aid?

What about cost? Do you prefer public or private? My advice is to go to a match school rather than a reach one for your undergrad education if you plan to go to medical school simply because you’ll need a decent GPA and MCAT to get in a decent med-school. You never know how your end results going to be at a reach school. Here’s a story you should read as an example of someone attending a reach school: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/1185550-getting-plowed-my-freshman-year-princeton.html

There are many options to choose from in California for an undergrad in pre-med to prepare you for med-school, such as the UC’s and the CSU’s for the public route. For the private route, there are national universities and regional universities such as Chapman, LMU, Pepperdine, USD, Redlands, Stanford, USC, etc., or the LAC’s such as the Claremont Colleges.

I do think I’m likely to qualify for financial aid. However, I wouldn’t be able to get enough to cover Yale’s tuition (at least I don’t think so). OSU seems more attainable.

Yeah, Public schools appeal to me more. But now realizing how expensive California tuition is for out-of-state students, I’m even more confused on what to pick.

But thanks!

Almost all OOS public Us will cost as much as a private U due to OOS costs. Yale has one of the best FA programs so if you get in you will have your need met. However, if your family has high income or a lot of assets that may not be as much as you would like. If ARK is your in-state school then go there. If you’re competitive for Yale look at some OOS schools that offer merit aid like Alabama or Arizona.

University of Miami is pretty good for getting into med school

But kids get into med schools down here even from Florida International
