I am planning on using a prep book to refresh my memory as I go into senior year.. but one thing that I don't think prep books can do as well as an actual person is help me to write better essays! I've taken the SAT twice and could have of easily broken 2000 if my writing skills were up to par (my scores were 1970 and 1960; essay scores were 7 and 8). .I've never been a strong writer and I would really appreciate any tips, methods that have worked for you, etc. ANYTHING! thanks :o)

I think with a score of 7 and 8 is not that bad (similar to many 2000+s scorerers) You should really just focus on the grammar to be honest. It can boost your school and get you passed 2000. The MC affects your score MUCH more than 2 points on an essay. so i reccommend looking through some prep books and learning grammar rules and testing yourself.

There’s a book called “How to Write a Killer SAT Essay in 25 minutes or Less” by Tom Clements: http://tctutoring.net/pdf/killerSAT2chapters.pdf
Read it. Use it. It will save your life.
A big majority of the students that have followed the techniques of that book have achieved a score of 11 or 12. I haven’t taken my SATs yet, but I have a copy of the book and will definitely use it.

I think the essays need to be as long as possible, use examples, and use good vocabulary and grammar to score well.
