Essay - I plan on writing about how my GPA is low due to a medical illness i had causing depression. After finding a donor, I decided I wanted to become a doctor and worked hard for SAT and such.

dunno if you should make you essay about that though. while it's a nice story I would be worried it came off kinda like a pity me type of thing. you can definitely include a supplementary letter or somethin and formally explain the GPA thing- they'll read it.

there is a whole section at the end of the application asking if there is anything you want to explain, like low grades or something. i would make your essay about something else. it can still be about the illness if you want and how it whatever to your life but don't make it alla bout the low grades

The thing is, its kind of a long story..well not really a story. Its not just an explanation for my bad gpa..its like the reasoning and motivation for what I want to pursue in life (medicine). I don't know, you all think thats too dramatic for an essay?

when i was talking to my orgo professor, who wrote me a rec for mmedic, i told him i wanted to write about my surgery and how it made me want to be a doctor. he said to be careful because the admissions board would flag it as someone wanting pity or with a hidden agenda so to not bring too much emotion into the essay. i would talk about how overcoming your illness has given you the drive to go to college and make up for the time u missed out on doing well in high school or something along those lines.
