Lastly, I am Polish and speak the language fluently. I moved here when I was young and my parents are very slavic immigrants. We speak Polish at home. I am hoping that this will help me, some sort of affirmative action for being a slav? What do I need to do if I dont get in Early Decision to make it in regular? Am I even in the window of getting in? Where do people with similiar stats seem to go? Where should I apply that would be feasible if I don't get into tech :(
Thanks!

It's nice to see someone asking about more modest schools, rather than Ivy league schools or public schools incredibly difficult to get into. It seems like many people go to bed scared they won't get into Harvard with their 4.5 GPA and 1550 SAT and slew of EC's. Rightfully so, many of them won't. But for your case, I have to say that it may be a longshot. Your GPA is unimpressive at best, and from what I can deduct from yout post, you have not had a trend of getting better grades as you moved up over four years. From what I know of the admission process, a couple of C's on a transcript will kill you for Tech, but 1 or 2 may be overlooked if you took hard classes and commited yourself to alot of outside activities. Your SAT is in the middle 50%, but it doesn't really impress. Try taking it again, a 1200+ could make up for your lower GPA. Lastly, I don't feel you being Polish will help you much. Try incorporating it into your essay, but don't make it your centerpiece, the admissions board wil take it as a sign you have nothing from high school that represents you and that you can show for, just the fact that you HAPPEN to be Polish. If your caucasian (as most europeans are), there will be no "plus factor." Go ahead and apply, but don't be terribly dissapointed if you don't get in. I suggest if your looking at Virginia schools to apply to VCU, ODU, and perhaps Radford, they are in your range. If you are dead set on Tech, try going to a community college for ywo years to help your GPA. I don't know how it will affect the cadet program, but it may get you into Tech. Good Luck.
