I really wish I had been born in Denmark, Canada, or New Zealand.

Too bad for you all guys...
I am dutch and i am going to amsterdam tomorrow.
I must go school there.
I think you all have a wrong vision about The netherlands.
There's all almost no one here who smoke hasj and wiet.
Red light district is only one street and is very dangorous place at night.
But download games and movies trough internet is not forbidden though

Prethumous: I'm asian and so grateful that I was born in America. We are given many opportunities and freedom that aren't offered in other countries. Also the diversity culturally and intellectually in the U.S. is part of the country's uniqueness. Maybe you need to get out of the midwest...

man, i can't believe anyone would want to be born in canada. And yes, socialism sucks. I hate the corrupt, that's right corrupt left winged government here. When we had our last election, I knew the outcome before the results came out. I'm def an american at heart. I don't like america's pop culture, but I still want an education there.

The only other places I would to be born is Vienna, or Rome, or belfast.

1.) Spelling is somewhat close to pure English.

2.) See reason # 2 for Denmark.

Switzerland is the place to live. People there naturally look more attractive

More naturally attractive? How so?

I was not born in the US...nor in Europe. I was born in Beirut, Lebanon. But if I had my choice, I would rather have been born in Europe. There is no place on Earth quite like it.

you know chris, I don't know why I wrote that. I completely forgot about this thread until humous brought it up. Maybe I saw a hot switzerland guy at the time when I typed that post. They're ususally blonde and blue eyed though, right? The switzerlandians?

Alexandre, Lebanon's the place to be !
I've never been to Lebanon, but I heard it's kinda nice, I have several friends who visit it. Some of them are guys and they all swear that Lebanese girls are the hottest girls alive :p

Sarah, people from Switzerland are called Swiss, not "switzerlandians"! LOL

Lebanese women are hot to some...but not to me. They aren't my type. I am more into Eastern European women! hehe To each her/his own I suppose. Besides, Lebanese women are usually quite superficial.

Oh I see. You know I knew that they were called Swiss, I was making sure the next person who responded would know that too by correcting me ;)

Maybe you just like the exotic women, who aren't from your home country. I was talking to my spanish teacher and she said American guys love Latinas because they're brought up to be submissive to their husbands! But yeah I suppose it depends on the person. By the way, I found you! http://p.vtourist.com/797709-Bierut-Lebanon.jpg

HAHAHA. :p Anyway I was just wondering, you're a college graduate right? Are you going to grad school?

is proud to be Irish
sings Amhran na bhFiann
:)

no, canada sucks

I would kill to live in England. England is my first choice above all, second is Dublin, third is New York City or upscale LA in the USA, then anywhere non-rural in the UK follows.

I would have preferred to have been born anywhere in Europe. I like America enough and am grateful, but I love just about anywhere else in Europe more than my home country. Although, my parents were refugees and I grudgingly have to love this place.

I can live basically anywhere without too much of a fight (considering I've lived in basically all of urban California, Orlando, Arkansas, Oklahoma, et al), but I honestly would dislike living in about 90% of the USA. I wouldn't mind terribly, but if I had a choice, I wouldn't. I'd shoot myself if I had to live in Atlanta, or Chicago, or Tulsa, etc.

You'd kill yourself about having to live in Chicago, AND you'd rather live in that hot hellhole known as L.A.?

Effulgent, have you ever been to Chicago? It is one of the great Amrican cities. How can you compare it to Altanta and Tulsa?

That picture most certainly isn't me! LOL I see what I am dealing with here! And I already finished graduate school, back in 2001. I now live and work in Dubai. So Sarah, are you still set on Qatar?

Of course man, that's my #1 college. If I don't get in, I wouldn't care if I got into every Ivy League, I'd still be pretty sad. Did you know they require an interview IN Qatar around March for accepted students ?... so you have to go and get a ticket and everything and I'd have to go during school. But that would still be sooo nice ..if I got in, maybe I can stop by Dubai! It's a nice place I've heard. My 10 year old sister is probably there right now ...and I'm stuck here! I've never even been to Dubai and this is like her 2nd time going. :(

Well, best of luck to you Sarah. I hope you get into Qatar. And if you decide to come to the region and decide to visit Dubai. I would gladly be your guide. Dubai is a nice city, but it is overhyped. I would compare it to Vegas.

Alexander, have you been inside the Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai? I have seen pictures of it and it looks amazing. By making that kind of an investment in a hotel, it suggests Dubai welcomes visitors from foreign counties. Is that correct?

I live less than one mile from Burj Al Arab and have spent a couple of very special nights there. The hotel is great...but over-the-top.

Dubai, and indeed the UAE, is very welcoming of tourists and expatriates. The UAE has a total population of 3 million of which 2 million are non-citizens. There are over 200,000 citizens from the UK, another 200,000 from Lebanon and another 200,000 from Egypt. There are also close to 100,000 citizens from France, 100,000 from Germany and 100,000 from the US. There are also many South Africans and Australians. Finally, there are close to a million Indians and Pakistanis. There It is a veritable melting pot...except there is no melting! LOL Furthemore, as of now, over 5 million tourists visit the UAE. They are shooting for 15 million by 2010.

lol no melting ... it is indeed melting. It's so hot over there! But thanks Alex for the kind words, seriously you've given me a lot of support. I appreciate it so much. And I really hope I get in too. :)
