I received a D in first semester AP Calculus AB Senior Year

(Some background information if it helps)
I applied to CSU Long Beach, San Diego State, CSU Fullerton, and San Jose State as a music major.
3.4 GPA (unweighted)

So I ended up receiving a D in AP Calculus AB. And I will no longer be in this class next semester. Throughout this semester, I have had a tough time in this class and before I had sent out my applications, my counselor recommended me against reporting this class on my application. Therefore, I did what was suggested and left out AP Calculus AB from the application. However, I now have second thoughts on whether this was the right thing to do. I met with my counselor again and she recommended me that I either I leave this class unreported and it will show up later on transcript or I report it to the colleges right now. My counselor mentioned that even though the class will still appear on my first semester transcript, it shouldn't cause them to immediately reject my application since it's not a required class. (And the fact that I am applying as a music major.)

So my question is how would this affect my chances of being rescinded (in the event that I do get in) the schools I listed above regarding the fact that I got a D in AP Calculus AB and I did not report the class on my application. Would it be better if I contact the colleges right now about this class and grade?

When and if you are accepted to any of the schools you applied, you are given a provisional admission that means you need to maintain a C or above in all a-g courses. Although it is not required for your major, the class is still an a-g course. Also, if you final transcript does not match your self reported classes and grades, you can be rescinded. I would contact each school and explain the situation. You may get lucky and they will try to work with your regarding this situation. Your counselor is completely wrong in all her advice and you need to take care of this immediately.

As usual, @gumbymom is correct. Contact the schools directly and ask them. Each may answer differently.
SDSU might ask you to maintain a 3.0 and pass all classes while SJSU might just ask for a-g completion.
If you don’t meet the standard of your conditional admission, they will bounce you.
Ask them directly right away. You need to understand your options and make a plan B if necessary.

Why were you not able to drop the course? Will your school support a retroactive drop? See if the course can be dropped from your high school transcript.

I would contact each school that admits you immediately when you are given the conditions of admittance. One of the conditions is that you contact them immediately if you receive any grade below a ‘C’. That has two parts: below ‘C’ and immediately. By contacting them sooner rather than later and working with them, you may avoid having the offer of admission rescinded. You are more likely to have the offer rescinded if you tell them later.

I would not worry overmuch, but deal immediately with the issue with the schools that admit you so that you can formulate a plan B. First, though, see if you can do a retroactive withdrawal at your high school.

I doubt that this will be a deal breaker.
