I recieved aid for fall but not spring?

Hello ,

I just got a revised letter from my school regarding my aid and it looks like i am not getting aid for spring. I had excess credits due to military but the appeal took care of that and i have a good sat progress. I am doing spring for my last class. Any reason why i am not getting spring?

Call. The. School.

Are you taking a full load? it is possible you fell below that mark to finish up your last class. Many aid packages require you to be a full time student with a full load.

Best to call the school and talk it over.

What type of aid were you receiving? Pell Grants? Military GI Bill aid?

What exactly did you receive in aid for Fall semester and how many credits did you take in the fall?

How many credits were you planning on taking in Spring?

How many credits have you completed so far?

Are you attending a CC or 4 year college?

Are you only taking ONE class? If so, that could be the reason you are not getting aid.

I called so what the lady said was with credits i transferred in (which i used my gi bill to pay for) those credits pushed me over my time frame for the pell grant. So now i am on sap suspension. But what gets me is i filed a appeal for excess credits and no one told me about nearing a time frame

The Pell Grant is available for a certain time only. There is NO extension of the Pell. And if you are only taking ONE course, I’m not sure you are eligible to receive any Pell money at all.

@kelsmom

So what are my options because i havent even taken the max credits. And i know i have not used the pell grant that long either

How much does ONE course cost? If you are taking only one course, are you also working full time?

If so, see if your school offers a monthly payment plan for your one course.

You lost your eligibility for aid due to exceeding the maximum timeframe. The only chance you have of getting aid back is to appeal - if granted, you would be able to receive the amount of Pell for which you qualify based on number of credits (as long as you haven’t exceeded your Pell lifetime limit). No loans if you are less than half-time.

Find out how to file an appeal, and do it.

@kelsmom how much Pell would one get for one course?

1 to 3 credits receives 12.5% of the total annual Pell amount. If a student qualifies for a Pell of $5,600 for the year, she will receive $700 for the semester. (If the EFC is almost out of Pell range, though, sometimes there is no payment at 1-3 credits.)

Yes working full time and i have been doing 2-3 every semester

2-3 every semester for how many semesters??

You can see if you have Pell eligility remaining here: https://www.nslds.ed.gov/nslds/nslds_SA/ .

Hmmm i would say since fall 2013-current

So it says 212%

But ugh i am only two classes away. I would pay but i have so many finicial things going on it will be way to hard

Does your school allow any kid of payment plan for students taking one or two courses? How much is this one course costing?

I believe it is like 600 from what i see. I am going to ask for a payment plan since i have to sot out this semester. But after graduating would i be able to re apply for aid to get my bachleors ?
