I screwed up, can I still get in next year?

Ok so basically I screwed up big time, and I know I’m stupid bla bla bla. Anyways, I was accepted to SLO as a transfer student under city and regional planning for this upcoming fall, but unfortunately I’m failing my precalculus class at the moment. The class is one of the golden four so I’m pretty sure my admission has been flushed down the toilet. My grade’s so bad that at this point that I could get perfect scores on my exams from here on out and I still wouldn’t get up to a C. So I don’t want any lectures on how I should tough it out and try to pass, because that’s not going to happen.

I’m going to re-take this class in the summer to get rid of the F and apply again this fall. My gpa should actually be higher this fall than what I applied with the past fall if all goes well this spring and summer. So my question is, will I have a good chance of getting into SLO again for the Fall of 2013? Or do I not stand a chance? My dad’s really ****ed that I screwed up this year and wont transfer. He believes that my life is over, and I want to assure him that I’m still in the game and that this is only a draw back. Please help you guys. Any advice would suffice. Thanks.

Never assume you are out and can’t transfer until it is confirmed. Call the school admissions department immediately and describe to them the situation and ask for guidance. They accepted you, therefore they want you and will make accommodations if possible. Here is the contact info:

Again, never assume it is over until it is over. Get into communication and get into action on all fronts. They might let you slide. You never know and it would be crazy not to try.

In fact, if you take it and pass this summer you might still get in for fall. Oh yea, DO NOT email them. Pick up the phone and call. This is the kind of thing that needs two human being to connect via conversation.

Well I really don’t have any hopes of Cal Poly letting anything slide. The fact I was admitted all together is a miracle, but I will call for some guidance. You’re right might as well try.

Well if getting admitted was a miracle then expect more of them. Pick up the phone and call. Get into action on all fronts. Do not quit one step before the finish line. You are better than that.

Also, have you talked to your Pre-Calc teacher about your situation? Perhaps he or she would let your entire grade ride on the final? Then you could get a tutor, study your butt off, and hopefully pass the class.

QuietDude, what did Admissions say when you called?
