I start Chem in a week...

I am starting a normal Chemistry class in a week. My mom says it is going to kill me. I haven't had any other science except a semester of AP Physics, and Biology. The chem isn't honors.

What can I do to get ready?

I am good at basic and intermediate algebra, ok with advanced, and completely fail if given anything related to geometry. (I have no clue why I am not good at Geometry. First B in a normal class. :()

What is normally covered? I am getting nervous that I will fail. Plus, I am going to a new school. lol

I’m currently in AP Chem with no real previous experience in chemistry (aside from some self-study over the summer). In my opinion, chem isn’t very difficult at all and it basically matters if you’re willing to do it. I see chem as kind of between Bio and Physics in terms of difficulty. It has some physics equations and the type memorization (periodic table, etc.) you’d find in Bio. Basically, if you’ve done AP Physics and Bio and did well in both, then normal Chem should be a breeze for you, don’t sweat it.

I wouldn’t say it would be a breeze–that absolutely depends on your school. But if your school has AP, honors, and regular class types, a regular class shouldn’t be too hard, especially with your previous science experience. Don’t prep, just be ready to do the work.

My first B in a normal class was algebra I.

The second was in Biology.

And the most unexpected A of the year was regular Chem  actually switching that to honors just for the heck of it ^-^

I really can’t see anyone failing a basic chemistry class…even the biggest slackers I know are passing it, and the smarter kids are getting 100’s. There’s really no prep for it unless you haven’t taken algebra yet. I can’t speak for everyone, but it sounds like you’ll be fine.
