I think I overloaded myself with APs

Hello, I am a sophomore in highschool and I think I overloaded myself with APs. My classes are:
AP micro economics
AP macro economics
AP environmental science
AP US government and politics
AP World history
Honors English 2
Spanish 2
Pre calculus honors

I feel extremely stressed and overwhelmed. It’s to late to change my classes. And I don’t know what to do I feel stressed and overloaded. My pre calculus teacher is also famous for being bad at teaching and giving hard tests and quizzes. Do you think I can survive the year or have any advice?

Why is it too late to change? Can your parents help advocate for a change? If not, try working with someone to help you organize your time and studies.

That is a very heavy course load, especially for a sophomore. My advice as a parent would be to drop World History and drop either macro or micro economics. 6 tough courses is enough, and the world history and one of the economics can easily be taken your Jr or Sr year. Most important are your English, Pre-Calc, Environmental Science–you want to get fully learn in these courses, because you will be taking more advanced English, Math, and Science classes during the next 2 years which will require a firm basis. Spanish is important, because many colleges want 2 years of FL, also US government as it is required in most school districts for graduation.

It is far better to drop classes and do well in 6 classes, then to keep all 8 and do average (or worse) in 8.

While true, and the same can be said for Econ, most students take is as seniors (or juniors if they can fit it in).

I would not drop WH if it is a graduation requirement. As USH is normally a junior course, I see no reason to try to shift WH. As I said earlier, shift Econ and gov.

FWIW, your GC is doing you no favors by approving such a lopsided schedule. Having 4 social studies/history classes was probably not the best strategy.

Oh gosh…yes.

Ditch AP ES and take Chemistry if you haven’t arlready.
DItch AP Economics and AP ES.
And also pick one of AP WH or AP US Gov

AP micro economics
AP macro economics
AP environmental science
AP US government and politics
AP World history
Honors English 2
Spanish 2
Pre calculus honors

I agree this is a very tough schedule. I would drop micro and macro and take a “fun” elective that you enjoy and that has minimal homework. You can take micro and macro next year or senior year if you still want to.

I would also drop environmental and take a lab science, such as honors bio or honors chemistry (whichever you haven’t taken yet).

Get your parents involved to escalate and get you moved onto a more appropriate track. Your course load is definitely lopsided for a sophomore - four social studies classes as an underclassman would not have passed muster in DD’s high school (which also puts macro and micro econ in senior year, and gives you 25 school days to change your schedule). Stick out the math class if you can - if you change the other classes in your schedule, that one might move to a different period with a different teacher. APES give you a GPA boost, but does not do a whole lot for you college-wise. I’d move into a lab science class like chemistry.
