I think i'm screwed

Yeah i posted this on another section of the site but then i stumbled across this part and figured i could get more appropriate answers. srry i'm new to this site so bare with me

Well guys I'm officially scared &$*@less...
I'm currently a junior from Georgia, pretty tough school i guess although the state isn't particularly known for its high school education.

Academics
GPA - ~3.8 counting all three years
Classes - I took/ am taking all honors or ap classes. AP Human Geo freshman year, AP World Hist sophmore year. AP US Hist and AP Physics B currently (might i add that physics is kicking my a$$ - last semester 85 without xtra 10 pts and right now 79) Next year I'm taking 5 Ap classes out of possible six classes. Bio, Computer Science, Calc etc
Class rank - Ok i guess - 39/~420

SAT
Math - 630
CR - 650
Vebal - 540

They aren't pretty but i'm going to take the test again this June. hopefully i'll get above a 700 on math and CR

Extra Curriculars
this is where....never mind u'll see

Beta Club - 10th and 11th - just a member
FBLA - 11th - just a member
Red Cross - 11th - just a member
SADD - 11th - member

I'll get a job this summer and also do some or actually a lot of volunteer work. but i think it is too late

I'm the oldest of three siblings and have no clue what I'm doing. parents are immigrants from india.

I really want to attend Georgia Tech.

Do i have a chance of getting into Georgia Tech or should I seriously consider DeVry (just joking no offense to any DeVry students)

oh yeah i'm a guy by the way so i'm guessing it will be a little harder than if were a member of the fairer sex..

any advice or comments or predictions or whatever?

You seem like the average good student.
Only advice, work on your SAT ... or ACT.

Maybe take some dual enrollment classes during summer, get ahead, stand out.

I got in with a similar sounding course load (3.5 1280SAT). You stand a chance as long as you're not asian/indian (because then your "standards" go up). Although you're right your ECs hurt you, try to write a kick-ass essay about something inspirational you did. Really difficult to say one way or another...

ROLF

cb21 said "You stand a chance as long as you're not asian/indian (because then your "standards" go up)."

theredbaron said "parents are immigrants from india"

Anyway I from Pakistan and I got accepted ad am going to going there next year. I only had 2 AP classes and 2 honors classes my high school years. I did get a 1420/2110 SAT though and excellent essay. I also had very bad EC's, worse than yours maybe.

LOL I must have read over that, but what I said is true. Asian/Indian is an overrepresented minority at Tech and won't exactly help you.

thanks guys for your replies. yeah it doesn't matter if my ethnicity doesn't help me...as long as it doesn't hurt me. surely the standards can't be so different from those of others. also considering the fact that i'm from in state and Tech has a relatively high acceptance rate (~69%) i have a pretty good chance....right??
