I think that my teacher thinks I cheated

It was all online. I first worked my problems by hand on paper and copied them down to my document. We had to show work, but I skipped some steps since I was running out of time. I thought it was okay since the steps that I skipped were reasonable, but when I went over the test I could see some weird parts and mistakes that were a result of me rushing. In detail, some numbers were wrong and steps involving math were skipped.

My teacher didn’t explicitly say that I was cheating, but he left a skeptical comment.

I am honestly so scared of him and I feel like he wouldn’t believe me even if I tell him the truth. Should I just remain silent? What could I do if he accuses me of cheating in this instance? I’m really worried… I feel like this will revoke my admissions to colleges that I am accepted into if he decides to not believe me. I’m willing to provide all documents to my teacher; do you think that this would make him believe me? If he doesn’t, do you think that I have enough evidence to prove that I didn’t cheat? Please, I need any advice possible.

When they announced online school, I was apprehensive about a similar scenario happening to me. It’s very destructive, especially for those like us serious students who do not intend on cheating. Something that I did in order to prove that I’m high performing student was engaging in class. Whenever my teacher asked someone a question, I answered the teacher with a private message.

Believe me, teachers can distinguish the disparities between good and bad students. Don’t sweat it. Just set up a strong foundation and great relationships with your teachers.

Thank you for this. I honestly do so much better when I write down my problems on paper than on technology. And I thought I had enough time, which I didn’t, and I even left some questions unanswered. I hope that I’ll get my teacher to trust me if that’s even possible, and I’ll surely do as you advised in the future. Thank you, I think some anxiety came off.

Of course, anytime! Also, you currently don’t have any evidence, but if your teacher confronts you, tell him to ask you random questions about the subject. Voilà, you have your proof right there!
